    My, maybe mistaken take on the theory is that by giving them as near as you can a complete nutrition profile you may well give them a source of something they are deficient in, if this occurs then you are onto a real winner as they really will switch onto it.

    Maggots are a fairly decent foodstuff for barbel i would imagine seeing as a large part of their natural diet is insect larvae ! High Nutritional value is not the same as Very high protien, one is better balanced than the other, ooh i'm getting out of my depth now ! :)

    Oh yeah, silly me :) Groups are not really my cup of tea to be honest, was in the Pike Anglers club and the Barbel Catchers many moons ago, but just found myself getting irritated by other people so i left both. It doesn't matter what group it is there is always internal strife to some degree...

    Thats the billion dollar question isn't it ? another way to look at it is will a Barbel having eaten something palatable that is of a high food value eat more and eventually start seeking it out ? my opinion, and it is my opinion is yes it will, will they also continue to take other foods ? yes...
