When the results are in I'd like a copy please, it would improve my early season success 10 fold, I'll send the stamps now, I like to pay my way. I'm waiting for those in the know in the B.S to be holding up some clonkers early season next year in all the rags and reading about their approach...

    Otters and barbel

Otters are no longer a endangered species, it's as simple as that, they do not warrant their status with regards to being protected. In the past they were allowed to be controlled, now they are not, none of us have ever faced what is now begining, and we are powerless to stop it. All the...

    Facebook vs B.F.W

Rayo, I will never forget spitting tea out all over my Laptop reading about the Beast of the Bibbs, some of the best stuff I've read on here was by you and the other chaps you were fishing with. I didn't think you was being a secret squirrel, hope your very much in better health these days.

    Facebook vs B.F.W

Some of the best river reports I have read on here are Rayo, Malc and mates adventures on the Wye. They didn't give pegs away, but told of the stretches they were fishing, tactics used and bait, and the laughs they had. All the river reports are now is "I fished the river today and caught...

    Facebook vs B.F.W

Maybe I'm just a busy chappie, and with a post count of 384, maybe you should get out more ;) I have no problem whatsoever in mentioning stretches I've caught fish from, people don't even do that these days, it's gone too clique and secret squirrel if you ask me and BFW is all the poorer for it.

    Facebook vs B.F.W

I don't think BFW is as good as it was a few years ago. The river reports use to be a great source of info on which rivers and stretches were fishing well, tactics etc, now it's just secret squirrel "I went out and caught some fish today" aren't I great. Read the river threads 4/5 years...

    Inside Out tonight 7:30

The enviroment agency guy there said they do not want to see an inbalance in fisheries which means large populations of specimen fish in the rivers. He claimed this was un natural to have large numbers of large fish... I'd say the quality of a river is measured by how many big...

    which bib n brace?

I've had some Prologic Max 4 ones for 3 seasons now, absolute toast you are in them, got the jacket aswell, I could not careless what the temp is in winter, it does not affect me. Seen someone say the build quality is not good, well the set I've got is bombproof, maybe a cheaper set is not so...

The cult of the John Wilson Avon.

When I made the change from Carping to Barbelling the Barbel system, green with red was what I bought and for the money, paid about £60, I think they are and were cracking little rods. I personally think too much ******** gets talked about rods and reels, I've learnt that over time, I'd be...

    River Trent at Smeaton Lakes

I don't know the depths, but you can catch fish 1 to 2 rod lengths out, deep channel right at your feet, best pegs are the end pegs but you can catch in any peg, plenty of barbel about with a few big carp knocking around aswell. It's a gravel bottom in the main, judging by the gravel bank you...

    In Need Of A Chair

Another vote for the JRC Specialist X Lite, I've had one 3 years, I think it has Terry Hearn branding on it, I remember it was one of the lightest chairs about when I bought it. Solid quality chair, can have back legs down or up to lean it against the bank, infact it came with like little...

    The river closed season debate

I think there is definite case for it being shortened, say 14th April or even upto the 1st of May. When fish are spawning it is a waste of time fishing for them anyway, and that goes for rivers or lakes, so the fish would dictate their own close season on their own stretch of river at...
