    Coloured Braid

You could always try and soak it in a clothes or fabric dye? I would have no issues using lime green braid for lure fishing, but not sure I would use it for ledgering without colouring the last few metres closest to the lead/feeder.

    Hooklength choice??

Definately the choice of waters have impacted my catch rate, I just find it hard to settle on which hooklength material I should be using. confidence boost sounds good, I did the same when I was carp fishing and went to a runs water to get some confidence in my rigs. didnt realise such waters...

    Helicopter Rig

I bought these that I use, slides over the swivel of the feeder or lead, and the top bead traps the hooklength swivel.

    Hooklength choice??

How do you begin to choose what hooklength choice is right? By that I mean hooklength material - Mono, flouro, braid, coated braid? I never seem to know what to use, I have tried all of them but as my catch rate is so low I’m always unsure what to change. I’m fishing the Thames and Hampshire...

    Feeders or PVA bags.

this is a question I always ask myself, and I always tend to lean towards PVA as I can make up the bags prior to the start of my session, saving me time. I tend to mix up a groundbait/pellet oily mix and make the bags up, in tests at home, the bags break down within 30seconds, which is more...

    length of hooklengths?

Thanks for the reply’s and I think you are right @Ian Grant there probably are other factors in my lack of results. Minimal baiting and fishing lots of different areas probably don’t help. I tend to only introduce feed through a feeder or pva bags and not much of it to be honest. And I jump from...

    length of hooklengths?

That's interesting Mark, may I ask why shorter with smaller baits and longer with bigger baits? what is your thinking behind that?

    length of hooklengths?

That's good to know Jon, thanks. I was considering using between 6 and 12inch to start with and see how I get on. Thing is the fish are so few and far between on the Thames its hard to see whats causing the blanks!! Shame we don't have any "runs rivers" to try this stuff out on like carp...

    length of hooklengths?

I strayed off the point of the post slightly, lol Generally, what length hooklengths would you use on a river like the Thames??

    length of hooklengths?

I've been thinking more and more about my approach to the River Thames for this year, probably overthinking it if I'm honest!! I have always used long hooklengths, as is traditional for barbel fishing, but I got thinking about the amount of barbel that are caught by carp anglers on shorter...

    Halibut pellets

Touch wood, no issues with mice or rats but then my gear is stored inside the house. I would never store it outside in a shed or garage again, replaced too many nets, bags and holdalls over the years to go back to that!!

    Halibut pellets

I have packets of pellets that have been open all season that I haven’t used for one reason of another and would have no issues using them.

    Naming stretches.

I wouldn't name stretches personally. The Lower Thames is about all you'll get from me these days.
