Congratulations Phil Nixon on Hants Avon record

Dave Just to add that I took no offence at all regarding the comments you made about my fish and fully understood what you meant.

Congratulations Phil Nixon on Hants Avon record

Really sorry to hear that Nigel, anything you report on can be taken as 100% genuine and that is the belief of all that know you. Many thanks for the congratulations on my fish, I'm certainly not an expert at photographs, I very rarely take photos being more concerned with getting the fish...

That's the businesses that are still open, look at the high streets to see how wonderful everything is.

    Vote Tory?

Great project HS2 if we had loads of money and it couldn't be spent better elsewhere. The idea behind it is that people from the North can travel quicker to where the jobs are, misses the point that people want jobs in the area where they live. As for taxing the rich is counter productive...

    Vote Tory?

Don't see where I live has anything to do with it, I obviously didn't realise that it was "the clowns" who caused the global economy to fall. I thought it was the banks that weren't regulated enough by labour and am obviously mistaken when thinking that the tories wanted them deregulated more...

Oh isn't it good news, another 5 years of austerity, especially for the poor.

    Scale calibration

Try your local tackle shop, the ones in this area (Bournemouth) have weights to check scales. They us them to verify the scales for entering specimens for RDAA trophies.

    Polarising Sunglasses

Ricky Optilabs are expensive but worth the investment, you only need one pair as the ultra 2000 adjust to suit light setting and very quickly. I have them with bi-focal lenses which enables me to read without removing and putting on another pair of glasses. Best polaroids I have ever used and...

    This Christmas Is Pants!!!!

Merry christmas from me. My best present was a few hours on Throop in glorious sunshine this afternoon (wife working). No barbel but 3 chub to 5-8, thoroughly enjoyable.

    Otters

Here is a copy of a text I received from one of our members tonight fishing the Hampshire avon: "Can't believe what I have just seen swans kicking up a fuss one at the back trying to flap its wings. Thinking it was a parent trying to beat off old brood turned my head torch on to see that a...

    Reuben Heaton 9000 Digital Scales?

Jamie I can assure you that they aren't being worn out by weighing barbel, if only. John Shame really they are a really convenient scales and accurate to, but mightily frustrating.

    Reuben Heaton 9000 Digital Scales?

Just an update as I originally started this thread. The replacement scales are still working but the backlight doesn't work now. Not good enough, I can't be bothered returning them again and will wait for them to fail but won't be replacing them with another set.

Retirement and fishing, more or less

I retired early and moved to Dorset 5 years ago to fish the Dorset stour and Hampshire avon. I can basically go fishing whenever I want but find I don't fish much more than when I was working. When working I planned my fishing in advance and would always go regardless of weather conditions etc...

    Reuben Heaton 9000 Digital Scales?

I originally started this thread and the replacement scales are o.k. after nearly 3 weeks. Problem is the original scales were o.k. for a couple of months and then drained the batteries after 4 days without any warning. It seems you can get a good or a bad set, not really good enough and reuben...
