Really sorry to hear that Nigel, anything you report on can be taken as 100% genuine and that is the belief of all that know you.
Many thanks for the congratulations on my fish, I'm certainly not an expert at photographs, I very rarely take photos being more concerned with getting the fish...
Great project HS2 if we had loads of money and it couldn't be spent better elsewhere.
The idea behind it is that people from the North can travel quicker to where the jobs are, misses the point that people want jobs in the area where they live.
As for taxing the rich is counter productive...
Don't see where I live has anything to do with it, I obviously didn't realise that it was "the clowns" who caused the global economy to fall. I thought it was the banks that weren't regulated enough by labour and am obviously mistaken when thinking that the tories wanted them deregulated more...

If you are after a new defender you will have to be quick as they aren't making them , being replaced by new model.
There are a few in the dealers for sale.

I can assure you that they aren't being worn out by weighing barbel, if only.

Shame really they are a really convenient scales and accurate to, but mightily frustrating.
Just an update as I originally started this thread.
The replacement scales are still working but the backlight doesn't work now.
Not good enough, I can't be bothered returning them again and will wait for them to fail but won't be replacing them with another set.
I retired early and moved to Dorset 5 years ago to fish the Dorset stour and Hampshire avon. I can basically go fishing whenever I want but find I don't fish much more than when I was working.
When working I planned my fishing in advance and would always go regardless of weather conditions etc...
I originally started this thread and the replacement scales are o.k. after nearly 3 weeks.
Problem is the original scales were o.k. for a couple of months and then drained the batteries after 4 days without any warning.
It seems you can get a good or a bad set, not really good enough and reuben...
