This is in reply to your post on Thursday, I couldn't put the whole post on but you quoted my post regarding the river level this year and insinuated that I was an alias. I can assure you that I am no alias and a lot of people on here will attest to that, check the Hampshire avon river...
The point is that all the datums are taken from the UK datum point in Cornwall and then monitoring stations in the area vary from the local datum point. We have the same variation down here where 2 monitoring stations on the Hampshire Avon at Fordingbridge have different readings.

All the river levels are taken from the lowest point above sea level on the UK mainland which I believe is a beach in Cornwall, that's why they are all different. As you say if you pick one you can tell if the river is rising or falling.
I am heading for the Wye on Friday for a weeks holiday and certainly won't be cancelling. All (if any) fish I catch will be treated with respect and will be rested and returned correctly. I always play barbel hard and thus when landed they haven't used all their energy, the problem in my opinion...
Braided mainline can cause more damage than braid hooklinks, a lot of waters allow braid hooklinks but not mainline.
Having said that I have used braid for mainline and hooklinks for over 20 years and have never seen a fish damaged by it.
You are probably correct Jason as there are a lot more lake anglers than
Rhys, we at Ringwood have 2 stretches of the Hampshire Avon that don't allow all year round fishing, 1 is closed for the coarse fish close season and
we don't have game fishing rights and another is open for our coarse...
Just to clarify for those using it as an argument, the close season is nothing to do with whether it is an SSSI or not. A lot of the Hampshire avon is SSSI but is salmon fished from Feb 1st until 31st August. A lot of our stretches (Ringwood DAA) are SSSI but our members can salmon and trout...
Here is a thought, if there was any scientific reason for keeping it why is there talk of the EA putting it to a vote. Surely if there was a reason it would be THEIR decision as to whether it was there or not.
Regarding shops being greedy, this argument seems to come from people living in the...
Day tickets for Throop which also includes the lower stour down to Tuckton bridge are £11, available from all local tackle shops.
Day tickets for Royalty are £12.50 if they haven't increased price available from Davis tackle.
PM me Mike if you require any information.
No problem Steve, just pointing out that everywhere isn't open.
Damien, to talk about poor logic is unbelievable coming from you, a fish is a fish is a fish, if you had read my original post correctly a return of close season is exactly what I was saying. If we can fish lakes and canals in the...
Be aware Steve, a lot of rivers are FLY only, spinning or any other methods not allowed on Dorset Stour or Hampshire Avon until 15th May.
You come up with some stupid comparisons Damian , what chopping someones head off has to do with fishing a river I don't know and yes I would fish the rivers...
Typical comment Damian, once again with no substance behind it.
My views for what they are worth is if we have a close season for coarse fish we should have a close season for coarse fish everywhere, totally hypocritical of the anglers who put forward the arguments regarding spawning and flora...
