I have watched and caught barbel on the Lee using a headtorch and on the subject of noise I have used a petrol strimmer on the Avon 6 foot from a shoal of chub in 2 foot of water and they never moved. Another day you could put a foot gently down and they would all spook.

We had an otter a couple of years ago walk into a garden centre in the middle of the day.
