I totally get why you have done it, I'm sure it will be bang on. The only draw back, for me is how the splice interacts with the float, dependant on size... but by the picture, with weight applies, looks like u have got it... great idea 💡

Waggler and Stick are 2 totally different rods and actions. Historically Stick/Spliced tip rods were for silverfish bashing, with light lines and needed a fast tip action for striking and casting against a light top and bottom float. Waggler rods were for fishing at distance 15 to 25+ yards on...

Do you what Nigel, I was going to mention this rod too. There's not just Acolyte's , Daiwa and Free spirits out there... if you have a chance over winter, get down and have a waggle at a big independent tackle shop... don't take someone's sayso, as mistakes can be costly.....

You might be using too high a diameter line for your slider knot? I slider fish a lot and I have made the same mistake. Also adding a micro bead, between slider knot and the float, can help quite a lot.....

Snugpak SJ9 jacket, snugpak salopettes. Guru joggers and Guru top, seeland fleece top. Army lightweight mtp goretex over the salopettes, just to keep clean. Don't forget your feet though...
