    Next level of irresponsible…

Get in touch with the controlling club [ if there is one ] and ask if they can send a bailiff down .Or , if is a club water , and you are a member , show them your membership card and ask to see there's , presuming they are just chancers it might just put them off from returning . Good luck !

Consider the market town of Easingwold , only 15 mins drive to the Ouse or Swale for angling , just off the A19 so easy road access to York , the Dales ,NY Moors or the seaside

    Flavouring Hemp

I am old enough to remember when Hemp was banned by many angling clubs and associations as it was believed that the fish became addicted to it ! Other clubs used to ban bloodworm and jokers as it gave those who could get them an unfair advantage in fishing matches. As anglers we are always...

    Hooklinks again

Would casting a feeder in every 5 minutes for 90 minutes perhaps have put the fish off ?

    Hooklinks again

To be honest , I think it is easy to wildly over think this whole subject especially when struggling to catch Barbel . Barbel are not the brightest of fish that swim in our rivers , if they are present and feeding I honestly don't think it makes a huge difference what end rig you use . I don't...

    Hooklinks again

I am curious Richard , why coated braid at night , and mono in the day ?

    Advice on rod selling.

I would be interested to know if anyone had made a successful claim for a rod damaged in transit . I spent a considerable amount of time trawling through the small print of a number of couriers , all that I looked at[ at the time ] specifically excluded damage cover for fishing rods , others...

    Advice on rod selling.

Anything over 1.4m and you will have to pay at least £30 carriage . Despite what couriers say , and has been pointed out , most couriers won't cover fishing rods for damage in transit . This said , I have posted many rods in UK and abroad and with one exception they all arrived safely posted in...

    Baiting/feeding strategy

Paul , I think you have hit the nail on the head there ,[use] ' the method that gives you most confidence '.Confidence is the key . Another observation I would make is this . Most of my Barbel fishing is done on the Yorkshire Ouse which is a big river . I have found over many years that ground...

    Baiting/feeding strategy

Keep em lean and keen . As I understand it the point of ground bait is to attract fish in to the swim and hopefully find the hook bait leading to you catching the fish or fish attracted by the ground bait . Too much ground bait or free offerings gives any fish around more choice ,therefore less...

    Centre pin recommendations

One reel with a weak ratchet is the Okums Aventa , lovely reel otherwise but it is too easy to pull line off against the ratchet in my experience

    Touch ledgering

Another thought .May be worth using braid when touch ledgering , as its zero stretch it might make it easier for you to feel the plucks and pulls

    Touch ledgering

Not particularly my cup of tea , but you could use a baitrunner reel/ centre pin with a strong ratchet and a bite alarm , negates staring at the tip for hours or getting cramp in your crooked finger . That said , touch ledgering is absorbing and its amazing what you can feel through the line...

    Baits for new season

To be honest Barbel have very catholic taste and if they are feeding they will eat almost anything . If I had to choose 3 baits I would go for maggots , worms , or spam , the latter being particularly effective in coloured / flood conditions . Sweetcorn is also worth a try

    Rod Position Changes

Low as possible for me , can't do with the neck ache with rods high up and it looks naff , but will tolerate it in flood conditions or on big rivers .

Korum waist trotting tray, Is this a good or dumb idea?

Could be fun if you were a little rotund in the belly department , under the belly , over the belly ? I reckon a waistcoat with a few pockets and a maggot bag would do fine . Can you still get maggot bags ? ....
