I havent seen or heard it mentioned on the news, so I'm hoping that's a sign its not too serious rather than a potentially toxic spill into a river not being deemed 'newsworthy'.

No joke Steve, I cant stand the taste of them - just my opinion and obviously I understand they are held in high regard with the majority of fish eaters.
I agree that the rod and line anglers are not effecting the stocks much but as a non fishing eating person (as a general rule), I like to see...
Barbel are definately more wary when there are Pike in the swim in my experience.
Whether or not, for example, a 10lb Barbel would care at all if a 5lb Pike was next to it I'm not sure. But, I've seen barbel equal to the size of the pike completely stop feeding upon the Pike's arrival.

Where I used to work had a hornets nest that was 2-3ft across in the roof. We only found out about it when they had chewed through the phoneline. The BT man certainly had a shock!
I also leaned on one once and got stung in the palm of my hand, rather powerful! As a general rule they do seem to...

I've said it on other threads, but this is my favourite. Still going strong on the same batteries after over a year. Dead cheap too with the price including batteries...

You will struggle to find a long tip ring. Not sure what the ID of the tip will need to be but I'm sure 'Guides N Blanks' will do it - http://www.guidesnblanks.com/product.php?product_id=334

Paul,
If you end up on rocky outcrops with clear water in front of you, keep a look out for shoals of mullet there too. Often they cruise around the shore as the tide rises and will keep going back to the same spots. Also dont rule out floating bread either!
As Mic said, once you catch one...
I've been thinking about this the last few weeks as my centerpins and fixed spools are starting to run low or get bad line twist/memory.
I've used Pro Clear exclusively for all my fishing the last couple of seasons but am getting tempted to try some braid. I just cant decide whether to take the...
