    Flask recs please

Just replaced both of my thermos kings after considerable use of mainly half caff coffee that was starting to turn to horrible sludge after a few hours. The only flasks i have not destroyed just worn them out .

If You Could Offer One Tip...

If the weather in winter is bobbins, freezing and river too high try something else fish wise maybe a bit of sea fishing makes a change and who knows what you can catch , I am old enough to remember when Angling times included sea species, and does stop the can't be arsed cabin fever setting in.

If You Could Offer One Tip...

Don't set up to close to the angler on the tidal trent that has a car parked at a angle that turns the main beam on each time to photo a fish. Similar how do the stoners stop themselves crashing down the bank when they get a run watching netflicks a la bivie at least 20 yards away from...

    Spam

Still plumrose ham and pork for me always found spam a bit soft and yes always take in a small cool bag with a ice pack, still reeling from when those tight wad tulip mercenaries shrunk the tin size.

Thoughts on Barbel wising up to rigs

Years ago the dearne barbel and chub would gladly munch a large cube of plain plumrose on a long shank hook, would mainly use a hair rig and quite a smaller piece nowadays when I get the chance to fish this interesting river .

    Braid?

There is some crap braid on ebay and also some good stuff, mainly used for hook lengths for me as I don't do a lot of predator fishing. The lack of stretch especially when holding a good sized weight when sea fishing the humber and often collecting various detritus, and getting snagged to boot...

    Brolly System

The Jrc stealth classic Brolly 2g has served me well mainly on the tidal trent i have used a thicker older tracker bivvy groundsheet, that stands up to muddy boots the sides can be open or shut ,nearly a bivvy, but still a strong Brolly at heart ,with max headroom as well .

    Plastic Feeders

American snap swivels with the flat plate that can be nipped up i have found useful on the tidal trent attached to the feeder swivel various sizes depending on what size feeder is required .

    13 ft Rods

Ditto with the rocks on the tidal, the 13ft rod does give a bit more confidence during those often last ditch efforts of a good barbel to escape the landing net.

Thanks for the yogi bear clip,my other halfs tweazer man tweezers pushed it in, I can road test next week on the trent, hope you catch some tidal fatties, Alex.

Does anyone no best place for older shimano reel parts .

I lost the small horse shoe shaped silver washer that holds the far non roller end of the ball arm on my Aero gt 8010 xt7 whilst fishing on the trent, any ideas as to where i could getting this part thanks Alex.

    Tidal trent.

Not a smart arse, Chris is just learning like most people ,who is to say that the bloke who fishes the tidal with 8 foot cane rods and centre pins is wrong, not for me but I would not begrudge them for doing so. Was lent the right rod and reel a couple of years ago tope fishing in Dumfries and...

    Tidal trent.

I do like 13ft rods nowt wrong with the Korum 2 1/2tc and for me a slightly heavier down stream rod still 13ft. Once hooked a good barbel in a high running off tide and a bit off extra water a lighter rod can get a bit swamped and feel wallowing, hooping over on the cast tripod/rod rest. Much...

What are your targets for the new season?

Keep to mixing it up species wise from Cod , tench , bream to barbel and other fish in between, never getting stuck with one fish /venue syndrome.

13ft rods ,love them or hate them ?

Ditto , the 13ft gives a bit more confidence esp the rocky margins of the tidal , sometimes a 11ft on a small river mainly 12ft if the bankside jungle a'int to bad .

    Feeders

Turbojohnnyboy11, from ebay i have used for a while now , the power gum helps them often bonce out of snags on the tidal trent plenty of different weights and even a xl version, easy to add extra weights if required. Roll on this next season !

    Bite Alarms.

Basic Nash sirens , cheap as chips , batteries last for eons.

    Crabs.

Never really had a problem with them last year, although some stretches were festooned with them, most of my baits were hard halibut pellets and dumbells, i can vouch for Scunny having some good stretches , try and avoid the weekends and hopefully the pandemic does not come back full tilt...

    Fishing officially permitted

Clear as mud distance wise , i,ve not been down the trent for a few months now ,50 mile journey, sticking to sea fishing in the Humber about 1.5 miles down the road and classed as in the same village. Have noticed less anglers from all over the country visiting to plunder the mainly social...
