Happens in my back yard on the Humber, all sorts of crap bottles line hooks etc sometimes left after the yearly cod hunt is in full swing , once some idiots carried a disposable toilet 1/2 a mile down the bank then dumped it down the grass bank , nice !
Ditto with the Cod fishing in the Humber , some you tube numptie has religiously plastered the same local mark to me for ages now , and spoilt it for the locals and the reasonable anglers who travel but don't feel the need to tell all and sundry just where and what they have caught, its just...
I agree as a mono user for course and sea , for Humber estuary fishing braid might have been a step to far and could have resulted in numerous knackered rings of this type holding In the strong out going tidal flows with often loads of debris to contend with .
No problem with the rings on the 13ft big water korum or the 13ft 2.5 either, ask me about a shakespeare 15ft agility for sea fishing though, that does have tin pot brittle eye inserts and the sections need to tightened every so often as not to loose them! my other go to rod for the tidal...
IMAX two piece floatation suit,l although i have two , the much cheaper second hand buy off ebay is made from much better material and is great for additional underlayers if required and not to Michelin man style to move in , has with stood all the tidal / humber can throw , plus might just...
Use it to plug the feeder ends with very stoggy stuff spicy meat or margin mix that any spare gets wanged in garage frezzer becomes the base mix for next session.
I have caught what looks like the same deformed fish about 5 times over the last 8 years from the tidal trent ,starting at around 9lb and last time i caught it was around 11 1/2lb, my mate has caught it about 3 times all within about 300 yards of bank , he nick named it Humphrey. Maybe...
Two 21mm Halibut pellets have caught good barbel for me recently on the tidal trent so no problem , i dont always fish a jonking great bait but sometimes just like winter cod fishing , it might just catch a better stamp of fish .
Tried all sorts of combination's but plumrose pork and ham or whatever label it now has [not as soft as spam ] , with a few squirts or teaspoons of halibut oil slooshed around then left in a fridge for a few hours and always in a small cool bag with a ice pack has been my go to meat bait...
Just had a few early hours on the tidal hull plenty of colour and movement with the tide , was a eel fest with a couple of not bad perch and lost a fish in a snag felt like a barbel , cool mist was rolling down the river, i would have took a photo of lost fish. I will wait a couple of weeks...
Praying to the rain gods might help, but mixing it up does stop cabin fever setting in , i am lucky to live nearly on the humber so can pop out for a session or two might snag a bass if i am lucky . I've only had 1 trip to the tidal Trent so far , that resulted in 1 flattie and a chublet it...
3 for me club waters with enough river lakes and canals to go at, for about £130.00 plus fishing licence , so still relatively cheap and plenty of totally free estuary and sea fishing and some free rivers that are a punt as well.
Most of my better tidal trent barbel have falllen to the downstream rod, which can end up quite a long way downstream towards the end of my usual overnighter, baits vary but tend not to fish meat on the downstream rod as lots of other tiddlers can whip it easily and left with nowt on the hook...
