    Zander

Last time I tried the cut was early April, had plenty of the ravenous schoolies, but only one 8lb plus fish.I see you've done really well Mick, also well done on the river carp,it took me a fair while to bag a river twenty so I know what it means

    Linear Fisheries

Richard,I have fished linear twice in the last 2 weeks and not had so much as a sucked maggot.Dont believe the facebook site on swim availability, its grossly inaccurate, hardly a swim left on a Monday morning.Yesterday morning had a carp angler set up his base camp directly behind my swim when he...

    Pike

Well done Anthony, just reward for venturing out in this up and down weather

    Drennan Series 7 Avon Quiver

George, the most I've chucked out with the lightest quiver is a 50gram kamasan feeder, when loaded probably equates to 2 ounces. It does that quite comfortably at a range of 40-50 yards,so with the heavier tip supplied it could obviously cope with more

    Drennan Series 7 Avon Quiver

George,I have been using the 11ft drennan series 7 for both commercial perching with the Avon top,and small river chubbing with the quiver tip.I have found both to be superb with a nice soft action but with reserves of power near the butt.Graphics may seem a little garish with bright almost pink...

    Xmas Pressy

Double figure zander, tench and a 4lb perch is that too much to ask?

    A hypothetical question…

Neil,I haven't myself come across any dead barbel on the bankside thankfully, but with the amount other anglers speak of finding, the rats foxes etc must be thriving!

    A hypothetical question…

Another theory is that the otter seems to only eat the vital organs in the throat region, and dismisses all the muscle bulk in the rest of the carcass. With the barbel being a sizeable fish these organs must be bigger than similar in smaller species,so bigger reward for the furry killers. They do...

    A hypothetical question…

Perhaps otters prey on the barbel first because they too are attracted by the fight just as us anglers are.Maybe when they get their claws into other species it might not turn them on as much. Also maybe a barbel's eyesight isn't as keen as a chub's,with it relying on other senses more, only a theory

    Keith Speer

I only knew of Keith from BFW and the angling press.I would read in awe of his ability with float and pin in the depths of winter, catching huge fish whilst it seemed all around were blanking.Truly sad news.RIP Keith

    Richard Walker MkIV rods advice

    Homepage Monster!

Trent fish looks pretty genuine to my eyes,so well done Jamie,as for the warks Avon fish that joker should take up politics.Fish is 11 maybe 12lb.A similar thing happened a while back when another idiot claimed a 17 off the river, why do they do it,I don't know what's worse actually trying to...

    Perch

What an incredible fish Roger, and a stunning self-take,really well done. Are there any day ticket stretches of the Derwent or cheap club stretches.I've heard of so many huge perch coming off this river, only wish my local rivers held such fish

    Korum Digital Scales

Have used RH9000's for 2 years now, second set as the first packed up.The new set also plays up in cold weather so I now also carry my RH Flyweights with me,which kind of defeats the object.Digital is ok for storing music files and other such things, but for certain applications it really is ****

    Clutch or backwind?

On the odd occasion I sometimes get snagged and subsequently have to pull for a break.Whether its right or wrong I tend to fully wind in the clutch hold on tight to the spool and then with rod pointing at said snag retreat backwards. This sometimes takes serious pressure with 12 or 15 lb...
