I wouldn't trust any fishing branded jackets after several bad experiences, my current fishing jacket which is still going strong after 10 years service is a Crag Hoppers one.
Maltbys reply was that their courier (Whistl) had let them down, lost the delivery. I decided to cancel the order as I won't be able to accept delivery after today, got an instant refund. Hope I have better luck when I re-order!
Placed my order with Maltbys on September 16th, got a reply advising delivery between 19-23 September, the last few days the tracking site (Whistl) has been showing "in transit" but still not arrived. Just sent them email asking what is going on!
Just run out of my last sack and noticed Maltbys offering 25kg at a good price, anyone comment on the quality of their seed. Had some from GW Titmuss once before that was very poor so don't want to risk another bad batch that won't split
Having grown up using the likes of Intrepid Monarch and then Mitchell 300's I always played fish by backwinding as the clutches on those early reels were hopeless. Even today, although I have Shimano and Daiwa front drag reels with much better clutches, my first action on hooking a fish is to...
More Severn roach yesterday on banded pellet, this was the best at 1.10, another of 1.06 plus some smaller ones. Hoping for some better float fishing conditions next week so I can target them properly.
Roach definitely making a comeback on the Severn around Shrewsbury, last week I had 4 in the 12-16oz range on 8mm banded pellet, yesterday another of 1.04 from a different stretch. That was an unexpected bonus as I'd gone out armed with hemp and tares intending to target them but the wind made...
I used to go to the trouble of tying up combi-rigs but for the last 2 seasons have reverted to mono, Preston Reflo Powerline is my preferred hooklink material, in 0.19, 0.21 and 0.24 diameter.
No problems with tench to 7+ and barbel to 8+, great hooking power and they don't seem to move whereas the MWG often fall out in the net. Not lost any fish so far this year but that worried me hence the change of pattern.
All my tench this year have fallen to a T-rig using Guru MWG or QM1 hooks, the Enterprise buoyant casters and maggots on the hair balance the hook weight and I add a few live maggots on the hook. Fished on a helicopter setup and a blockend feeder.
A far cry from the Wandle I remember as a kid, lived on Wandle Bank, behind Merton bus station from 1950 (aged 1), until 1968. The only fish in it then were sticklebacks!
I've got one of the 0.75 Specialists and a pair of the 1.25 Avon twin tip quiver rods, my only complaint is with the reel fittings, they are cheap screw up ones and because the handle is so slim some of my reels move about slightly even when fully tightened. Other than that I find them terrific...
Lovely rod, I bought mine primarily for perch fishing but I've had barbel and pike on it and it's surprisingly powerful for it's stated TC. I also have a pair of their 1.25 Avon quivers, excellent for tench!
