Another good point Mark,so maybe when we are seeing to same results from so many different rivers and different scenarios there is one common denominator,the return of the otter.Difficult to argue against that conclusion
It's a fair point Crooky,it's interesting to hear other anglers thoughts re numbers of barbel in a particular stretch and doing my bailiff rounds on St Pats number of experienced anglers recon there about 200 fish on Upper and Lower whilst my best guess is more like 30 so if I'm right it's not...

Good post Craig,think that is nearer the mark than the feed issue plus of course habitat and predation,just my thoughts though I'm no scientist/biologist

Surely the question should be based around catch returns not population,we all tend to come to the conclusion that less catches means less fish which might not necessarily be the case

Been using it this winter for my chub fishing 6lb bs and it seems good ie abrasion resistance,little line twist but no worse than any other and lower diameter so less water pressure.
I'll be using it at 10lb for barbelling next season,hope this helps.
Paul,good choice I moved over to the JRC Light chair after I found the chub light chair uncomfortable due to a metal support holding the canvass across the front causing an ache at the back of the legs
