John,I'll carry your gear if you like.....don't forget to bring some trotting tackle if you fancy a bit of roach fishing,we've got a number of comfortable pegs on the Thames which are producing quality fish to 1lb or so,best on punched bread in the summer or seed baits
I hadn't really thought about the bream but now you mention it I would absolutely agree,the areas I fish you get the occasional one which is actually quite welcome where as years back they made barbel fishing almost impossible unless you took the Guy Rob approach and used "donkey chokers"

Agreed Mark,you only have to watch them in the flow and they hold station with no noticeable movement as you say it's down to their shape and outsized pectoral fins which I believe must act like a wing with the current pressure pushing them down
