Calling all rollers, trundlers and meat bundlers

Dereck, does he say why he uses multi coloured plastacine or whatever it is rather than a more subtle colour ? I was aware that when using say brown plastacine, that greasy smelly fingers can slightly flavour it, thus perhaps generating false interest/bites. Not something that I can honestly...

    Lead size ? small river.

I would try a couple of swan shot on a loose link (so they can slid off if snagged). Small river with little current minimal disturbance is prob good idea. However a small river I fish , in some fast water, used a 1oz feeder and worked really well.Found swim preparation worthwhile and did...

    River Medway

Thats real interesting stuff about the Uck. More overlooked by me than actually fished over the years. Personally I am a little dubious about lots of fish " getting washed downriver in floods" Was the Sx Ouse actually stocked time ago, anyone know ? I hear a few good fish in the Arun...

Keep moving or sit it out?

Is float fishing a reasonable size bait an option ? i can see a lot of advantages to it particularly searching the stretch, moving bait, less cray friendly, prob doing something different than others. If you get any results dedicate more time in that area. I know absolutley nothing about this...

    River Medway

Ps I never had anything decent from Ouse Preservation stretches. Mostly tidal and somewhat featureless. I may have been unlucky as Dave may know different. 5 Anglers on the Anchor Inn stretch (wierpool), 2 sessions around this Christmas, not 1 bite amongst us.

    River Medway

Rtwas prob best bet IMO, but you wont be on your own ! To be fair they have enough water to find a decent spot and good chance of barbel. I recall had 26 chub (over a few weeks) before my first barbel there.Fordcombe is a small and intimate stretch which can be very satisfying. Ashurst...

Calling all rollers, trundlers and meat bundlers

Fish cant tell the difference can they. Moving bait ,,take it or lose it. Dont get hung up fine tuning at this stage. You are searching bottom for fish ,,and snags, so simple is best. Most use big bits of meat 40mm + I guess,,.,,cos fish wont take small pieces will they ???? The rolling...

    Landrover Defender/L200 Warrior

Perhaps your mate only saw them when they broke down ! They are not invinsible but do seem to offer decent service and value.

    Landrover Defender/L200 Warrior

Yes Derek but some Jap type 4x4s are crappy off road/snow,,like The Hyundia Tucson I had ,,otherwise brilliant car for fishing (except in snow) and well cheap now. Landies are designed with off road in mind. Just use suitable tyres.

    Landrover Defender/L200 Warrior

Defender no no no .prob best off roader, go any where in it though. L200 yes, issues. Large wagon but suprisingly little space for what we all want Hi Lux very robust but early diesle ones very sluggish, petrol better but in more demand. Any truck.whether single or double cab not (IMO)...

    crayfish

Does seem daft that cant,,,should not be used as a bait ! Indiginous species excluded of course.

    Freshwater mussels

Dave that is a really great offer ! I will be doing my "blanket weed answer" treatment soon and perhaps should try their sludgebuster after. Guess a pond vacume should be done before both treatments ? Tried "netting" sludge from bottom recently and amazingly accidently caught two fish ...

    Freshwater mussels

Hello Gavin Clarity not a problem, but silt building up. Pond is 18" to near 4ft at deeper end with roach ,rudd, two mirrors, two barbel, goldfish,a tench or two, couple of koi and a bream. No harm in trying them I guess. Thanks anyway.
