Had another bash on that little lake for the big perch,, no joy. Very very soft/silty bottom,stuffed full of roach, rarely fished. Sunday will try feeder stream to it.

Still searching for the big stripeys in this small lake. Tried prawn and lobworms for roach,rudd and two fat carp ,,but no big perch yet. Wondering what best area to try this time of year could be ,deeper water,island with overhanging trees or fairly shallow margins ?

Went perch/roach fishing. 30+ small roach ,couple of netters on maggot. Moved onto prawns and after 15 min had a bleedin eel. Did eventually manage a small perch last knockings on prawn. Nothing on l/bait.

NS I dont reckon a "fairly stiff paste" moulded around the hook will have the same hooking up potential as a hair rig or stay on as well on a longish cast and stay on the hook for 20min or so in the river. RE Pva will help on the cast but melt in the water so I guess offers nothing once the...

If I wanted to hair rig with braid ,a stiffish paste bait on a decent size river, casting maybe 30yds, what develish means can one employ to keep the bait on upon casting and for say 20min in the water ? Size of paste could be 8mm dia up to 30mm I dont much care for the plastic bait...

I would expect differing flow rates/depths would need a different amount of heavy metal paste as you move from swim to swim ?
