I caught two lake eels recently 4lb and 2lb , didnt mean to ,,honest.
They were both very docile out of water,unlike the wriggly little critters you get on the rivers.
Is it the norm with big eels not cause havoc on the bank ??

I dont want to get too anal about it as its so overgrown down there, I reckon a cheapy rod is way to go.

Can anybody be kind enough to recommend a rod for float fishing a small river 25ft wide maybe 4ft deep ,with a very slight flow and pretty overgrown with bushes and trees.
Tried a 12ft and 11 ft rod for length but def too long so wiil...
A quickie means (amongst other things) for me going out with just one bait and absolute minimum gear, cos I aint goin to be their long.
No brolley,chair,pipe ,camo bivvy shoes or laptap.
