Gutting, mate.
Get on the Hook by Pallatrax. Andy sells them in the BFW shop.
Im not going to curse myself ( 🤪); but these hooks and hookpulls from barbel do not go in the same sentence (except this one ).

ATB and Tight Lines
Sorry mate , I was just adding context to the thread whereby people were saying you were going to regret making it public and I thought Id add a bit of context by adding that it is already very busy and therefore nothing to worry about.
She is an excellent barbel with beautiful 2 tone...
Congratulations on your new PB  and for not giving away the location.
I know that fish, it was very friendly for me a few seasons ago.
The stretch is and probably always has been very very busy but just not with dedicated barbel anglers- more your general pleasure fishers/Townies/EEs...
If you hadnt of said you'd actually hooked the fish I would have said they might have been huge liners.
Ive had this on a few swims on the Ouse where the butt is lifting off the ground only to spring back before Ive had a chance to hit it (slow reactions ), ive then been sat there...
Erm.... You've made up the languishing bit. Stalking in the edge is a generic term, rarely are individual fish actually stalked.
Im bald so you'll have to split hairs with someone else.
Good idea about the beekeepers.
Its good to dab on any cuts or scrapes that you get whilst fishing too, keeps weils and other nasties out.
Propolis definitely works. Fish have amazing powers of healing and regeneration and propolis helps to speed it all up, imo.
The Thames.
Proper mystery river.
I'd love a go but I'd need a Lotto win (or to be one of Boris/Cummings mates) to afford to be able to put the time in
Im suprised at this as my Fortis overwraps are the best polarised glasses I have ever had.
I have the ones that go over my normal glasses, amber lenses and they are excellent.
On my 3rd season with them and they still work despite the constant cleaning etc
Cannot get my head around people...
Im loving Dave Lane's story time on Youtube.
Tenchbloke sounds a great fishing buddy and the general fun times they had sounds great and also poses the question how and when did angling get taken over by killjoys ?
ATB
Baitworks Atlantic heat is an amazing bait for on the rivers. The little 10x8mm dumbells are perfect for hookbaits
Best bait Ive used since the original John Baker baits.
They arent really any good on a river as mentioned above but great on a lake when you've waded out net can just sit next to you (wont drift off downstream in a lake:))
The whole X range fell under this myth, so that included the carp and barbel rods.
They were designed by Simeon Bond, had fuji fittings and looked like Freespirit blanks so people wrongly assumed they were the same.
I bought the avon quiver 11ft pound and a qtr and I think its awful. Dissapointing curve to it when playing a fish, its a non action really, not progressive, not my cup of tea.
And @Tim Harris have a look at the 11ft Harrisson Gti blank. Absolute delight. (Peregrine do an off the shelf...
The discount card works out great value for money if you have a local GoOutdoors.
I have absolutely rinsed them over the years with their ‘price match plus 10% off’ deal.
Sod knows why they do the price matching thing because they are never the cheapest on anything!
They are excellent reels, Andy.
I have 3 x 4000d and love them. Excellent clutches. Use them for chubbing, barbelling and surface fishing for carp.
Minor gripe is that the bail arms are abit flimsy. I always make sure nothing is resting on my reels when they are packed away so I havent had an...
