I carry Aqua Swab and Aquagel, two products from the oranamental fish trade and both do the job very well and come in, I think, a 100ml bottle and last time i brought some were about £10 each

do a nylon set for not very much, ideal for work parties as they normally get cream crackered easily.
or try someone like used tackle as they often have cheapy ones
Suggest get a size bigger than required as the cheapy ones are often quite narrow
i prefer the light from the green filters I have on mime as i think it generates a much softer light, no scientific basis for this just seems better for my 44 year old eyes

only trouble I've found with these fold down shovels is they do exactly that after a while and in my opinion aren't up to much
I carry a cheap metal trowel in the car for minor digging mainly for the obvious when away from "facilities" but i keep a short handle spade in the back of the car...
only problem i found with the glycerine was that i had to keep applying it, as it comes off easily or at least it used to when I was still mad or young enough to go when it was that cold but now the otters have eaten most of the fish :)
yep Ian I agree but the scolded pellet way is an easy way to introduce someone to paste and flavour combos etc and is more female friendly then p'ing about in her domain with squid and octi, cheese etc flavours and various fishmeal blends or so my ex wifey said :)
try egg replacer which you mix with water or use something like vitamelo again with water, this is a calf milk replacer which has excellant binding properties and will "skin" you baits
egg replacer you can get from any supermarket and is well cheap
Other option is get some pellets add...
