According to Drennan the new 1.5 and 2.0 Barbel rods are faster action and more tippy over the Specimen range
So different action to the current barbel rods, not sure why they would change th action?
Will that put the new 2.0 barbel rod very similar to the 2.0 tench and bream?
I thought the same when they released the bream and tench rods, surely same blank as the barbel version but without a white painted tip?
I'll still have a waggle of one of the new 1.5 Barbel rods if my local dealer gets some in which I think he will.
Just seen the short video for the 2 new rods in the Barbel line up
I've already got the current 1.5lb Specimen rod so I'm wondering what difference in action we'll see in the 'Barbel' version of the same test curve?
I had a pair briefly, I still kick myself for selling them as I got them for £30 each in a sale
Solid alarms, easy to source 9v battery, very sensitive if needed. Gutted I don't have them anymore.
I was expecting a lot more considering how long it took for their release
Just my opinion but they are not anything special. Had the blanks been lighter and with maybe a proper Fuji reel seat or something then maybe.
They are ok, although I don't find them all that different to the current Korum 3K Barbel rods. Blanks are similar in weight for the 12ft 1.75 version compared to the Korum rods and double the price gets you better guides, same unbranded plastic reel seat and th fact they are from Drennan.

Isn't it all in our heads that one brand will out fish the other?
Sonubaits Spicy Sausage, doesn't smell a million miles away from Dynamites Meat furter. And the AD own brand meaty ground bait smells pretty much the same as Meat Furter.
A Halibut pellet is a Halibut pellet, no matter what bag...
It looks a bit bulky for roving sessions but the new Blox Pouch looks interesting and I had my eye on getting one but not managed to see one in the shop yet.
Do you mean the the Blox?
I've had the smaller roving version when all my gear was pretty much Korum. It was ok, clips were quite tight to close and open and the baiting needles are poor, but you can get replacements from AliExpress if and when they break. The compartments seemed sized to hold...
Yeah you used to be able to fish the pub side and pay for a day ticket at the bar (if we're talking about AM) There didn't seem many pegs though, I think I only found 1 or 2 at most.
I've had a waggle of the 1.75 version of the 10ft Xtractor specialist, thought it was quite soft for its length and rating so the heavier version might be what you're after?
I'm hardly one to try and give advice, but smallest hook bait I use is around 12mm, be that either a pellet or boilie (mainly though I have a 15mm on the hook) . I'm fishing for Barbel but don't mind the Chub, and we all know how big their mouths are. I don't want any other nuisance fish picking...
