    Hooks for boilie fishing

When using boilies I've been quite happy with the Drennan Boilie hooks that come in the chrome finish packet, not the Continental ones.Bit expensive but have never let me down using sizes 8 and 10 mainly.

    Your favourite barbel reel

As I need,at times, to cast heavy feeders medium distances,on mainly large rivers,I'm more than happy with my 6000D's.Two seasons old now and glad I got them.Only negative is the price of spare spools, should you need any.The 4000 size would be ideal for smaller venues.

    Can someone please explain ?

Derek, Argos also have it at £24.99.Thanks for the heads up as need to retire my heavily dented old flask. Pete.

    Reel seats

Personally I'd always choose a screw down fitting in order to negate any thread/locknut in the vicinity of the reelfoot where the rod is gripped, so that effectively there's just cork either side of the reelfoot and therefore more comfortable to use in my opinion. Pete.

    storm poles

Dave, All the Dinsmore storm poles and bank sticks of varying lengths that I have, all came with the hole/tommy bar feature, which is very useful especially when gravel and stones are encountered. I'm sure they're still British made.......which is nice.

    storm poles

I'd say Dinsmore all day long. Really aggressive thread that screws into the ground really firmly. Comes in various lengths and diameters.

    Korum Digital Scales

Agree, the RH dial scales IMO have been very poor, however have been quite happy with their digiitals, wheras again IMO Fox digitals are only useful as a doorstop,

    thermometer

Stephen, Nice and cheap, but the lead is a bit on the short side (80cms). The TM03 looks very similar to one I bought in Maplins a few years ago. It's stood the test of time ok, my only gripe would be the lack of an on/off switch, so you have to either remove or isolate the battery with a piece...

    Specimen and Specialist Groups

if I remember correctly, the term used for the square steering wheel on the All-Aggro was "quartic". No wonder our car industry went down the Swanee:D

    Shimano Baitrunners...

My preference is for a front clutch, but when the 5000 XTEA was a current reel it ticked most of the boxes. The Penn Slammer was a great alternative whilst it was available, it's only down side being the inability to backwind.

    Shimano Baitrunners...

Good choice with the XTEA John, best rear drag Shimano's made IMHO.I think it's a matter of horses for courses, as all the reel sizes mentioned are perfect for the right river and situation. My 6000D's are great on the Thames/Wye where their cranking power with big feeders comes into their own...

    Shimano Baitrunners...

6000D EU, has a T-bar shaped handle if you don't like the D's egg shape. Pete.

    Spicing up meat

Cut a cube of meat in half and sandwich the hair between the two halves using superglue. Job done.
