Well, didn't blank and the nets still intact. Was glad of it when it came to negotiating the overgrown brambles etc, but fishing from a high bank the 28" net seemed a small target to aim the fisk at, but that might have been down to my ageing eyesight.
As much as I prefer to use a spoon net, they are a bit of a pain to transport when a long hike and plenty of foliage are encountered. So I'm hoping to give the Korum 28" folding triangular net a bit of a workout tomorrow on the glorious river Wye. Hope I haven't jinxed myself now, with a blank...
My ESP bib'n'brace and jacket has served me well over the last three winters. The latest model ESP Super Grade claims 25,000 hydrostatic head and 10,000 breathability, which is a similar spec. to the model I've got.YKK zips as well.
Hi Ben,
How about a Drennan Series 7 Avon/ Quiver in either 1.25 lb or 1.5 lb. Also have the choice of 11 or 12ft and comes with a quiver carrier section with tips.
Wouldn't be without my 1.5's.
I reckon I've had my Max 4 jacket and bib'n'brace for the best part of 10 years. The jackets still fine and will be used this winter, the stitching around the crotch of the bib'n'nbrace has given up the ghost but could no doubt be repaired. Always liked the fact that it was made of a "quiet"...
Although I prefer to use a fixed rim spoon net, when a long hike to the swim is involved I've been using the folding Korum spoon net. I bought it early last season and haven't managed to break it yet. The stitching on the bag it comes in is a bit feeble but other than that I've no complaints...
Tescos are currently selling the 200 gram cans for £1, if anyone needed to stock up.
Also for those that do the odd overnighter or longer, Tescos have started to stock a range of "longlife" meals made by a company called "Look what we've Found". I've bought this range online for several years...
Guru have a new range of method feeders due out this month called the Hybrid. They have interchangeable stems which convert the feeder from in line to regular swivel mounting, so both presentations can be offered without the need to carry too many feeders. I'm going to give them a go, but then...
Felindre sold them the last time I had this conversation with them......and no, according to Felindre, they are not interchangeable, OC spools were around £18 and D's were twice that.
Have been perfectly happy with my 6000D's after two seasons, which would be suitable. The only downer is the price of spare spools, should one be necessary.
Dave,
We've got Taliban, shoe bombers, hate clerics the lot down here. The point I was making was that whenever the vehicles of fanatical groups are featured in news items on tv, invariably they're always Toyotas, and I doubt they've got the time to be messing about with blown head gaskets and...
Not that I'm in the market for a 4x4, but has anyone used a Toyota Surf, based on the Hi-Lux. As the Taliban seem to mainly choose Toyotas they must be really reliable and would tick all the fishing capability boxes, being long wheelbase, fully enclosed security wise, and 4 wheel drive, diesel...
Mentioned this topic to a mechanic pal, who at one time worked at a Land Rover dealership. The Freelander was apparently referred to as a "threegrander", that being the average cost of repairs.
Boy, we were tough back then..... Kids of today eh. Heated grips, full face helmets, body armour, goretex gloves and suits. Not to mention super sticky tyres and fully adjustable suspension. But are they happy.:D
The sight of sparks flying from the footpeg of a GPO Bantam got me into motorbikes. I was so impressed that I decided there and then to get a bike as soon as I was 16. It was a bit of a long wait though, as I was only about 11 at the time. My first bike was a BSA C15 as well, a fast red one not...
