I have the Trakker Ultralite & although a little pricey it has stood the test of time, many types of terrain & all, I mean all weather conditions. Other than a tree falling on top of me I would not hesitate to fish in the strongest of gales, though erecting it without blowing away might be...
Classic! Still expensive compared to some of the drennan's mind. If it caught proportionally bigger fish I'd be quite happy paying £4 per hook! Nice one,
Jon
Just park next to the Beeston Canal & walk anything from a few to fifteen minutes for the Notts AA stretch. Few swims slightly overgrown but positively arm chair like compared to the tidal!
Thanks for the clarification Richard, it's been a few moons since I cast a line that way. Nice bit of water - just a pity the more scenic spots are appended to Clifton.
Some like to fish germinated baits or even fermented baits. Good point tho a couple of considerations:
1. Most complexed proteins denature (ie loose their quaternary & tertiary structure) once above 60C essentially binding up / damaging certain/proportion amino acids. Small baits will not take...
Sam, frying hemp, I'll give it a go over the next couple of weeks as spodded feed amongst the controller for carp (that's if it floats!). Seriously, I will try with presoaked, blanched till just split, powdered with LT94, salt, fried in salmon oil with garlic cloves. If the results are good...
Thanks for the further comments. Had some more fun paste & controller fishing Sunday. Agreed on points made so far: Antares, better in the heavier breaking strain for our needs & to use open water fishing - for me I would say that if I was fishing for better fish, I would use a new rig per...
Agreed on the customer service. Broke a latex spoon net after 12 months battering on the screw fitting. I insisted on buying a spare part, they insisted on exchanging it for free. Took it into Lanes of Coventry on Saturday & picked up brand new net yesterday!
PS this is reference if your fishing the Clifton side. I think it is Notts Fed on Beeston side & there are signs to the effect of no night fishing tho a few do
Not sure on the ownership & never been asked - just park your car very wisely & be careful of the local Clifton yobs. Stones & hassle is not unusual.
Good luck, Jon
Had a play today with both Antares & the Reflo. No problems with neither, instant results with both & every take resulted in a fish. The Antares is very slightly finer. Looking forward to a bit more fun tomorrow.
Thanks again, Jon
Thought so - travelled thru there some 18 years ago during my more hippy days!
In the middle of nowhere, stunning environment & quality fish to boot!
Thoroughly enjoyable post & thanks for sharing. Inspiring stuff!
Jon
Agreed - When you look at the price of hooks, korda gear, controllers etc they are a bargain - especially when one takes out the business overheads.
Quality stuff!
Quality fish there Simon, good photo’s & what a res’! I think I know the venue, camping downstream of the dam whereby a local advised us to re- pitch in his garden as they released water late at night. Good job as the spot was a good 15ft submerged the following morning impounded by further...
