I came across a cheap second hand 11ft Acolyte carp waggler yesterday and couldn't resist so I now have a perch option. It should work quite well I think and could double for trotting for chub on smaller rivers. I'm still tempted with a Darent valley .75lb so I have a second rod.

I'm planning on targeting Perch more this coming season so im thinking of getting new rods and wondered if you guys have any recommendations mostly for ledgering with worms and prawns.
I've done a bit of reading up and options I've come up with so far are
-Drennan specialist twin tip duo 1lb...
They are good Rich as are the grubs version which you can usually can usually pick up a little cheaper. I get through them quickly walking the dog, they usually start to perish after a year or so. Hence the move to jack pyke this time.
Dammit I've gone and ordered a new flask that I didn't even suspect that I needed before reading this thread.
Still at least it's cheaper than most of the other purchases I've made following late night bfw visits.
I find goretex loses it waterproofing pretty quickly and wets out. You can reproof but it never seems to last as well and is pretty pricey reproofing all tge time.
I switched to Paramo kit a good few years back and I've been really pleased with it. It's a little warmer than goretex which works...
It's something I've been considering a lot recently. I think a file could be really useful when you are in the middle ground, not as sharp as it could be but not blunt enough to consider changing.
I've been thinking one of these might be worth a try...
After a cold night on the middle trent I'm looking to upgrade my very basic oval brolly. I'm looking for a brolly system rather than a bivvy as I fish the Burton Mutual ticket and they don't allow bivvies on the river. I'll use the brolly on its own on Burton Mutual stretches and the 'system'...
