+1 for the PowerDrive
Essential for stoney/gravelly ground
I've 4 (2 long/2short) for the Oval. Had them more than 10 years and they get used a hell of a lot. Only scratches to show for it :)
Dinsmores | Metalware : POWER DRIVE
I just realised Mike that you may never have the experience of a left handed reel with rotor revolving the correct way and therefore will be unaware of how nice this action is. This is because all reels being made now (that I can see anyway) have rotors spinning in a direction designed for the...
We wouldn't be having this conversation Mike if the Mitchell guys had build the reels correctly :D. You must be a 301 user then ? Interesting isn't it that rather than make an ambidextrous reel, Mitchell reversed the mechanics and made a reel that was an exact mirror of its sister. Cocked it up...
Forgive my ignorance but I can't see how this is possible with the 300 as the rotor spins the wrong way (typical french ) If you are fishing a backwind method surely you would use your extended index finger to stop/catch the bailarm at the roller end to allow the clutch to operate or...
Absolutely Jeff - I honestly believe Kev could get at least 3 fingers up each nostril !!! We are so used to the extended arms shot we have now lost the reality/scale of a good fish.
I'd also like to add , although I don't know for sure, that the photographer (Chris?) was possibly STANDING and...
A change like this would drastically reduce the annual income to the EA if the rod licence fee stayed at the current level so they would want to raise the standard licence price. Single/double rod users would then be subsidising anglers using 3 rods.
You're not missing anything IMO mate. Yes they ALL wobble. Drag is super smooth, but, if you intend using as a BR will require too many 'turns' to get back to 'normal'. The simple removal of the cap spring destroys the fine adjustment, and I found it difficult to obtain the right 'feel good'...
As it happens I'll be starting my 2014/15 Zed campaign this week Mark - So mixing up my fishing between them and the River Carp. Looking forward to it :)
Hi Mark. Only just seen this post as I've been busy ..... um River Carping.!!
I don't fish the Wavon but would expect the fish stock to be very similar to the Lower Severn following the 2007 flood.
Stick with it mate, a 20 is a very realistic achievable target. There will be plenty of...
You might want to consider avoiding shelters that are based on a brolly/rib system. The reason I say this is because IMO there are just too many joins of panels/seams just where you don't want them - right above you, and it's only a matter of time before a leak occurs, due in part to the...
They wouldn't need too Joe, and it would be prohibitively expensive if they tried anyway
It strikes me that the EA deptartment managing eel stocks would be well aware of the quantities being presented to the elver stations. The stations have a defined maximum they can take, by...
With the buying price down to just £50/kg at the Elver station this year, I don't know why the EA couldn't spend a few (of our) shekels and stock a number of rivers across the UK with Severn caught fish, or have they done so?.
On the Lower Severn Graham I've seen a lot more of them over the last couple of years. The last time was a Saturday evening in July, just into dark - so outside of normal 'office hours' and good to see. I wouldn't go without one, they are so cheap after all. (Got 2 innit ;) )
& I hear next year...
