    different strokes for different folks?

Are they not? I bet if you got a few brickies together they would all disagree about the best tools/ materials/techniques.

    different strokes for different folks?

Chris is spot on there. If you want real disagreements, try hanging out in a football forum for a while! As for your experiences with Big Game, I'm currently using it on two different reels - a trusty Epix Pro and a Korum KXi that I won at the BFW charity day. I've had problems with line...

    Muck Boots

When I was looking at Muck Boots, someone reported that the tread pattern on the Derwent isn't very good for muddy river banks. The links below show the difference in the treads between the Derwents and the Tays. The grip on my Tays when scrambling down a steep muddy bank is excellent and they...

    Derri Boots

Never tried the Derri's, but am very happy with my Muck Boot Tays. Comfortable for long walks, plenty of grip, and lovely and warm. I went for the Tays instead of the extra-warm Tay Sport so I could use them in warmer weather, but with two pairs of winter walking socks, they've been fine in...

    Wanted - Speedia Wide drum

Looks a reasonable price to me. Good original ones are fetching £100 on Ebay and they are not nearly as good as this one – assuming it is properly restored not just coated. Tatty but working ones seem to fetch £45 to £50 (which is what I paid for mine) with more dubious ones going for around...

The best club to join in the Midlands!

I'm a member of Kinver Freeliners and I can highly recommend it. The club has some excellent and varied waters which are rarely busy, it's well run by a good committee and the members all always well-behaved, knowledgeable and friendly. The downside is that there is a waiting list...

Birmingham PAC Presents Martin Bowler 15th December 2011

I'd be up for that, Deano. Are there tickets available, or just turn up on the night? I can offer you a lift if you want?

    BFW Grayling Fish-In

I'm in - after my last attempt at Hampshire Grayling fishing, I feel I need the practice :D Any room for one more, Steve? Happy to buy you a large pizza in return :p

 Thanks Steve ... if I can get it off Ben!

    Humminbird

An interesting thread. I've been looking at getting a fish finder to map a couple of waters I'm fishing, but put off by the failures of Hummingbird. If the Chinese sensors are better than the Hummingbird ones, is it reasonable to surmise that the Chinese receivers would be okay too? The one...

    Any Gardner Roving Sling owners...

Thanks, Bill. Shame as it would have been ideal otherwise. A very important win, although it nearly wasn't to be ... though in the light of Larsson's dive, I'd call it karma :p. And surprisingly entertaining for an afternoon at Molineux this season

    Any Gardner Roving Sling owners...

Can anyone tell me if it has a handle as well as a strap, as the photos aren't clear? I like the look of the sling, but if I'm using my Korum Ruckbag, I carry my sling in my hand, hence the need for a handle.

    A few books

yes, I remember hearing about your 'bream'. I'll put it down as a maybe :p. Once I've finished reading this book (and also Mark Everard's book) tonight, I'll be showing you how it's done on the Test (and proper river roach too). ;):p:D

    head torch

Deano, the strap is adjustable ;). I have mine so it only just stays on ... and occasionally falls off

    A few books

It's for when I get back, so I can find out why I didn't catch anything! Actually, I'm fishing for roach again with Martyn the week after and he always beats me, so I'm looking for an edge, lol.

A Train to Catch...by Jon Berry

I loved "Beneath the Black Water", which I'd recommend to anyone and everyone. I will definitely be reserving myself a copy of this one.

Wanted a warm water proof jacket thats water proof and warm !

Windproof is key and not all jackets are windproof! It doesn't matter how warm the jackets is on a still day, if the wind rips through it you'll get cold. So look out for jackets that say windproof. My current jacket isn't windproof and I can feel the difference when there's a bitter wind...
