George,
The Royalty is certainly not as busy as it once was. During the summer holiday period you will have busy times. RDAA members have the option of 2 night permits on there (through Davis tackle) which you have to pay extra for, these allow you to fish anywhere above the lower bypass...
''Its basically a decent head of smaller fish i am after in order to cut my teeth. Sorry for the long post''
I wouldn't exclude the Royalty then George..... Forget the others!
Richard,
Stayed here before for a few nights. They have there own fishing which is okay. It is also situated smack in the middle of Bewdley and Bridgenorth. :-)
Manor farm and xxx outside Evesham Robert would suit your requirements on the Avon.
Both day/night tickets that hold some good fish with easy access. They can get busy though for obvious reasons.
Very sad news, I heard a couple of weeks ago he was very poorly.
Met him years ago on the Avon and Stour when he lived down South. Last saw him on the lower Severn at Pixham about 8 years ago. A quality barbel angler for sure.
RIP Alan King
Garry, as the weekend is 5 days away and the forecast looks to be improving towards the end of the week I would stay optimistic. The water temperature can rise 4 or 5F within a 24 hour spell so it doesn't take long for conditions to improve dramatically and we all know what effect that can have...
Not a small river Anthony but here is a link to the EA website that monitors the Hampshire Avon river temperature constantly and shows the overnight temperature drops. Also available on an excel spreadsheet if you click on the link which takes a reading every 15 minutes.
Updated daily at 9am...
Hey Dave Taylor, I reckon that swim that you refer to is just above a busy bridge not a million miles away from me. I know it well and yes its changed in recent years. Perhaps you should fish it in the dark...... ;)
Alex, did u not notice the 'tounge in cheek' face.
I also work full time but during the summer months always find time do fish in daylight.
This time of year with work commitments I do struggle to get out in the daytime as much as I would like.
Given the option I would much prefer fishing days...
Well done Richard, takes me back to March 1994 when I had my first double at 11 2 from Throop fishery, I went back the next day and had one of 10 5.
Get out tomorrow. :-)
Had a pair I used to use until I replaced them with the 'pete reading pins'
They are fine for close in barbel fishing. Line guard makes them difficult to cast much further. Only down side is in flow they sometimes struggle to 'hold' using a line clip eliminates this but watch out for 'overspin'...
