Pete Reading Breaks Hants Avon Barbel record!

There's isn't a more deserving angler to catch such a fish from the Avon. Well done Pete, congratulations.

    BFW Muharran week.

It would be nice for some normality to be resumed. I understand this is a forum and a place for peoples views to be aired but some of the back biting comments nearly drove me away from BFW,,,, Every river across the country is different, I know I've fished a few. My local Hampshire avon has been...

    New line

Martin, If you liked GR60 and wish to carry on using it as I have done for many years for my barbel fishing this Korda carp line is the same as at half the price. They are the same line and I have used it for 2 seasons now since GR60 has been hard to get hold of :)...

    Cold Water Barbel

Spot on Mark Swaby. I have also found they they will often be located in very steady slow swims where they do not have use much effort to be stationary. Quite often, I have had a bait in the water for some time, gone to reel in and felt a barbel on the end. They sometimes pick up a bait and...

    Cold Water Barbel

Nice fish Keith but surely not from the Hants Avon with water at 10c 5 days ago. The Avon was 7C 5 days ago and hasn't been 10C since December. It's generally the maggot that will tempt a barbel in such conditions. The coldest water I've caught in recently was 42.5 f but that was on a slight...

    Hinders Flatz Pellets

I have seen these and I believe they will only be available in one size at first which are about the size of the original medium elips but are thinner. They are of very good quality and are sure to be a hit for the barbel at least.

Charity donations made to Macmillan and Cancer Research

Nice one Andy. Personally I would like to see an annual subscription to BFW, even if it's still only £3 a year we could make a considerable donation to various charities each year....... Just a thought but possibly a headache to 'set up' Kind regards John

    Whose good for pellets?

Take a look at their little Gemz Neil :) https://hinders.co.uk/search?q=little+gemz

    Whose good for pellets?

Fair enough Neil, I guess a lot of it also comes down to confidence. I can honestly say that my catches haven't suffered whatsoever. I was a little alarmed at first when the old elliptical pellets ceased, but I kept faith and with all my summer barbel fishing done in clear water I have watched...

    Whose good for pellets?

Hinders Chris. Why change because of the shape, the recipe is still the same. I cut a flat on 2 large cylindrical elips and glue them back to back on the hair. Job done and results no different

    Underwater GoPro

I bought this just before my Canada trip Dave. No need for any waterproof boxes anymore they are fully waterproof as they come for £150..... Absolute bargain IMO. The film quality is superb as you can see from my recent posts from Canada. Splash out another £50 and you'll get a 32 gig memory...

    Otters...I thought they were territorial?

That is reference to the photo 4th from bottom. It clearly states East Yorkshire, river Trent.
