Never had a problem using a pin Andrew.
If the pin is grating when you reel in it would suggest that it requires a drop of oil.
If the ratchet isn't strong enough and it continues to click off in the current then try using a rod attached line clip.
I only barbel/chub fish with mine on the lead...
I too bought loads of these as my favourite the Korda wide gape in size 12 have been discontinued.
I bought them in size 12 and 10 and also the kaptor wide gapes in the same sizes.
Very sharp like the Kamakura hooks.
Just check the point on every cast like I always do anyway.
I've fished 2...
I have a pair of the 1.75's that have only been used a couple of times whilst my rods were being refurbished.
Obviously mint with cases.
PM if interested
No complaints about this place I've stayed at. They even have a room for 3 singletons which works out very reasonable. Pub a short walk away with good food.

I'm sorry I've missed this in the past Andy.
I'm not on here all the time but have been a member for many years.
Thanks for providing a great site.
Just donated.
Keep reminding us yearly.....
Age is creeping up

I bought the bib & brace but opted for the 'smock' as opposed to the zip up coat.
Very happy with these garments, both warm, dry and comfortable.
I also bought the summer (unlined) bib & brace for the warmer months.
Worth every penny and love the thick padded knees for the odd occasion I am...
No Darren, and neither is throwing thousands of juvenile fish into stretches of river for replenishment. Admittedly I do not fish for roach but I walk many miles of the Hampshire Avon with Polaroids searching for barbel. On the waters I frequent above and below Ringwood I have yet to see any...
Chicken waste has been used for many years to produce electricity. There are more of these plants cropping up all over the country. I've worked in energy from waste for 29 years and its far more efficient and cleaner to use such fuel as opposed to fossil fuels...
Richard,
I have worked in waste management since 1993 and am well aware of what can be done. I have always taken a bucket myself. It really is just a few idiots that you will get anywhere. The average cost of hiring 2 standard portaloos is £100 for a minimum 2 week period. It would hardly break...
That sort of behavior Jon and typical angler crops up on every club or day ticket stretch in the country. Personally, if I need to have a crap in the daytime then I need to go..... I don't hang onto it until it gets dark, so I don't see how things will improve much. I have fished this stretch...
Hi Ian.
I have used the sticky baits krill in the past with instant success.
Garlic, is in my opinion the best additive in any barbel bait.
I have used essential garlic oil in my baits for probably over 15 years now.....
Not a direct yes to your question however ;)
It is a well recognized fish that comes off the TT, often at Collingham. My mate had it at 16.4 last season but has been out much heavier at the back end, sometimes at Sutton. Well done Paul.
Sleep in the daytime if its barbel you want. Get the rods out in the evening from 6pm. I have tried scaling down but unless you are in 1 or 1a you will struggle.
