With regards the Dorset Stour and Hampshire Avon I would make the following observation:
The Stour had a decent record for producing 7s a few years back but they are much more scarce nowadays. The Avon on the other hand seems to be offering an increasing opportunity of a 7.
For what it's worth, I said yesterday that I've been enjoying some quality roach fishing in the dark illuminating the float with a tourch.
Interestingly, this evening I fished two feeder rods in the usual spot so no need for the tourch. Had four between 5 and 5.30 but didn't have a bite...
Yes it is. Had a reasonable day yesterday. Started on the maggot and scratched out 5 fish by lunchtime. Switched to liquidised bread and punch ended up with 27 roach ((all netters bar four) and a dace
For what it's worth Matt, further to my comment above, under such conditions you will often find the fish in completely slack water but as I say they are very contrary so try a few spots
I find roach the most contrary species.
But in answer to your question Matt I would say conditions similar to barbel. If warm water has entered the river after a prolonged dry period

On the Avon again today. Dropped about 4" during the day.
No rain forecast tomorrow, Sunday or Tuesday.
Key thing about the Avon Kevin is it takes a lot of rain to have a really detrimental effect.

Hi Kevin, I was on the Avon today and it was OK. Carrying some colour and up a bit but as others have said, it will drop quickly and with no rain forecast for the next few days it will be back to normal within a couple of days
