Cirencester is the nearest Town. Look for South Cerney nearby and Somerford Keynes all the lakes are there. All gravel pits that were excavated to build M4. There is a tackle shop on the main spine road in the park that will advise re dt etc. Or contact South Cerney AC.

Another way in is down steep lane adjacent Garden Centre but only safe when dry due to steepness. Then over field along riverside to other end of pool from the popular route. You only have one gate at bottom of lane to open.
Whilst I understand the popularity of rolling meat given the Ray Walton's excellent mastering of the technique I do wonder if it is any better than using a big chubber float tripping the bottom?

An aside, the Severn was stocked with Barbel in the 50's an initiative from the Angling Times, this stocking alone brought Barbel to many other rivers.
