Imo that's something that will never happen while there are anglers that refuse point blank to acknowledge that some (a lot) rivers have suffered terribly from otter predation, they must have their reasons for thinking that but as I don't know their rivers I cant comment on why.
The changes on one particular river involving 2 stretches have happened in the last 5 years, its noticeable that both stretches are more rural than others parts nearby.
If before the reintroduction of otter barbel were surviving quite well and breeding in rivers where now post the reintroductions they are not what has changed in those rivers?
Stretches of small rivers that previously held populations of barbel of varying sizes are now devoid of barbel since...
Ambaston, fish were almost guaranteed a few years ago ( as much as they can be in angling) with a good range of sizes being caught along with some decent chub, now you would be lucky to find any barbel in the stretch. My lads friend used to travel from Bristol to fish there but no longer does
I...
The Long Eaton Victoria AS water opposite bank to what used to be ferry field day ticket (now club water) has produced some good fish but from what I have been told its a night water as the boat channel runs close to that bank. might be worth some investigation.
Is it any wonder that angling doesn't have the political presence it should have with the amount of anglers in this country that are so interested in what others do and are only to willing to criticise other anglers, do your own thing and let others do the same and maybe we will all get on...

The Earl of Harrington club would be a starting point for the Derwent www.theearlofharringtonsac.co.uk
I was a member of the Derbyshire county angling club but no longer am as the stretch I fished is now a shadow of what it was due to our furry friends.
Wont those that rent the coarse fishing be aware of anyone renting game fishing on whichever river? if the CS is abolished an agreement will need to be made between the different clubs that's all as far as I see it, no coarse CS doesn't mean that all clubs/ rivers will automatically allow...
How many that would prefer to see the CS retained are fishing for other coarse fish during the CS? its hypocrisy.
How many that want the CS retained would abstain from fishing rivers were it to be abolished?
It is not fit for purpose change the dates (impossible imo) to suit all geographical...
I have heard people say that Grassies don't fight, this is one of a similar size that my lad caught, its one that hadn't heard that they were not supposed to fight because fight it certainly did.
I almost just packed it in years ago after chasing a particular target for ages, nothing else would do and I became a robot going through the motions, and not enjoying my angling, a friend advised to just go do something different which I did and my enthusiasm returned I was enjoying my...
