Mink have been round the upper Medway for years - used to see them regularly in the 80"s and 90's, 'set free' from a farm i was told.

    New E.A river level website

Ash i have just tried this and it has the same info as the EA site and same times...the bonus is saving the favourites.

    New E.A river level website

Jon it does seem like that as they have not included a reading since 6.30am at the location i usually look at - being a spate river it rises very quickly so it will be interesting to see what happens...I suspect this is a cost savings exercise.

    Removing paint from rod tip

Neil Great rod when matched with a C/pin - had mine stolen a few years ago, have not found a replacement. Why not paint it white?

    Cockapoo: Fishing friend or foe

Nature - nurture arguement - if you have had a dog from a puppy you can train it to whatever standard you wish bearing in mind part of its make up is genetic (nature). One of our collies from a breeding line of international sheep trials winners is terrified of sheep and we have tried most...

    Cockapoo: Fishing friend or foe

Our working cocker is from field sport lines but my missus does agility and she is being trained to do this (18 months old) - having lived with 3 collies she has developed a hell of a turn of speed and loves the training. So far she has not run out of the ring, often typical of spaniels if they...

    Cockapoo: Fishing friend or foe

Many years ago they would have been mongrels, now they are designer dogs with a price to boot...bonkers!

    Cockapoo: Fishing friend or foe

We have 3 collies and a working cocker (wocker) I suspect the spaniel would be in to retrieve any fish hooked as soon as it hit the surface...they are the bonkers but hilarious breed of the dog world. In comparison the collies seem serious and studious...that said neither breed is ideal for a...

    Barbel populations and severe flooding

Surely, the position is we do not really know on most rivers as we have rarely experienced extreme floods such as a Q100 flood ie the one that occurs every 100 years as we have not been measuring flood heights for long enough never mind what impact they have on freshwater life. There are...

    Gear stolen River Trent

As i have mentioned before i have had my gear stolen 3 times - insurance stumped up twice. I just wonder who buys the stuff as it seems to happen quite frequently and Flebay does not now seem to be a source of stolen kit and i checked the second hand web dealers. Nothing more frustrating than...

    New Thame Record!

I know this fish was also out a couple of weeks ago at 16.07 and recall I think a 15+ in the AT earlier this year and not from the usual stretch...great fish and capture nevertheless....will look up the picture and see if I can recognise it as a 15+ came out at the back end of last season.

Fish killer - a surprising culprit, you say?

Mike The guy who wants to do this hopes to fence of 50000 acres for with two small packs, irrespective of whether he can get agreement of others, RtR may well scupper the plan before it really gets off the ground. Pity we do not have the same RtR south of the border - but then we have the...

Fish killer - a surprising culprit, you say?

Mike/John I for one would be interested in a scientifically managed re-introduction of the wolf in Scotland - they will never roam loose; the land may have changed but of course it can be changed again...the issue is 'right to roam' but let's not open that can of worms.

Fish killer - a surprising culprit, you say?

Graham as far as i know they are the only ones that have ever been killed in continental North America - as i said bees kill about 33 people a year and of course humans far more...so what do you suggest we do in these cases? Lister in Scotland is talking about fencing them in so impact on...

Fish killer - a surprising culprit, you say?

But usually if they are in the wrong place at the wrong time and often the wolf is rabid - the number of deaths in N America are very small (in the USA there were none between 1888 and 2008) - more people are killed by bee stings... Wolves are not like big cats they do not hunt people...so...
