Mike As we know killing otters and raptors is illegal so this is not broadcast - as far as i know big cats are not protected so why keep quiet, plus monies for the Sun exclusive. i am not sure there are many farmers who would miss out on this... As for dead piglets up trees i can find no...

As i have said before big cats roaming the countryside is a great romantic idea and there has been evidence of a few cats out there...i do though struggle with the idea of farmers dealing with them and keeping stum; this is not something they would keep quiet about just a mention over a pint...

Interesting comments Dave but our habitat/size would be suitable for the reintroduction of the European Lynx which used to be indigenous...

There have been sightings that were accurate but these have all been known escapees. They do not last long - the recent Lynx was three weeks before being captured. Why do we believe reports of sightings without actual evidence is the difficult part and it is, as i and others have mentioned...

The problem is there have been lots of sightings of 'big' cats but no corroborative evidence such as actual tracks or dead cats (one was found in Scotland a number of years ago but was part of two that had been released by someone heading to jail i think) never mind a 'clear' image - as i noted...

Guys just in case you do see anything below are a panther, puma, lynx and tiger's feet, which are huge...as you can see with the panther and lynx it is very hard to establish really how big they are

Jeff did you take a photo as this would help in recognition...as for a big cat there is absolutely no evidence that any are roaming free and both badger and wild boar prints are about 10cm but a badger should have claw marks.
