Apologies if already posted. Fergal again, pulls no punches.

    Ruckbag replacement

Big enough for most winter fishing, if you're wandering the banks. Helps me limit the amount of kit I take 😉

    Ruckbag replacement

Love my Thinking Anglers Rucksack. Into my 4th season and zero problems. Very well thought out bit of kit https://www.anglingdirect.co.uk/thinking-anglers-olive-fishing-rucksack?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwjsi4BhB5EiwAFAL0YF768wV991v88URjVlVB04alfLGODub2fFv-92MZbjXHcTVs4kVThxoC1pwQAvD_BwE

Small/ medium river fishing - wait or rove

I used to love watching them, as much as catching them. Sadly the Ouse's clarity isn't what it was. So that joy is mostly history. Interestingly once you get to St Neots, the clarity returns, and by Godmanchester it runs beautifully clear. For my money, any future barbel stock into the Ouse...

Small/ medium river fishing - wait or rove

I fish the Great Ouse, and do not have the patience these days, to sit in one swim all day, hoping for that one bite. I need to be proactive and work for my fish.

Small/ medium river fishing - wait or rove

The one fish at the end of the day has probably not been there all day, but moved in to your spot a short while beforehand.

Small/ medium river fishing - wait or rove

On the Ouse, I ALWAYS caught more by roving when stocks were obviously declining. Putting scant amount of bait in half a dozen swims, and rotating them. An hour was generally long enough. No indications, move on.

    Oiling a cork handle

On the occasions I've had a cork handle that looks a little tired, I have found a decent nail scrubbing brush, with warm water and a litter washing up liquid, does just fine. It's amazing what an improvement this makes. Btw, never sand paper, but maybe a green scourer

    Vehicle of choice

I bought a 2020 Ford Focus estate, 1.5 td, in February. There's loads of space, more than my previous 2006 model. I get at least 60 mpg on a run, pulls extremely well, nicely appointed and comfortable. Just been down to North Devon for a fortnight, covering over 500 miles altogether, no...

So otters weren't the cause of the carp fatalities?

Every river in England has varying levels of e-coli. https://www.bedfordindependent.co.uk/bedfords-great-river-ouse-e-coli-levels-hit-new-high/

BTW, this was one of my first regular fishing haunts as a teen. Headings Mill. Usually 3 or 4 of us fished here through most weather's. Our dad's taking it in turn to run us up from Swindon Village (me) and Bishops Cleeve, and bring us home with our stinking kit. 😉 Lob worm was the go-to bait...

Bit of fun... What's everyone's preferred boilie of choice

Well looking at the replies here, just about any flavour will work, be it sweet or savoury. So it's whatever you're confident with that will work. Just out of interest, why aren't there any worm flavoured boilies?

    Beever introduction on Nene (tributary?)

First off, I'm not an anti, I just think the local councils are kidding themselves that the beavers won't find a way out. Most of us know escapees along the Wiltshire Avon area. I think it's now 14 groups between Chippenham area and Bristol. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c0ve3240p0no.amp

    One man's mission.

Yes he does, but I know (from experience), if I had put in the hundreds of hours in, and all those weekends away, that my marriage would have ended a lot sooner than it did.
