You’re right mate I do need to give it a better test before being completely satisfied. It won’t be used on the nene ever. I don’t believe it’s up for that as strong as it feels but I do hope to get it out on the middle and maybe some sections of the tidal Trent this coming summer.
If the...
The latest 14 ft power float from Preston is extremely similar to an Sm2xp in terms of stiffness and action type.
I was reserved about the minima guides on it but so far they’ve been golden.
As a slider man yourself Jon, it would be worth a look because 4 turners are gonna fly through those...
I’m with you there 100% jon the only weight in a float rod especially on the longer side that I’d be interested in is sections separately
I took a 215g float rod, made it 185g and it was horrible I had to put 15g back into the handle to make it feel much nicer and lighter on the nose end...
What do you mean by upgraded worm shaft Rob. How has that been upgraded?
These reels are as standard oscillating the spool by the use of a worm shaft. If that has been replaced, what makes the new one an upgrade please?
It’s bad form to openly tarnish a man’s classified thread Jim.
And that’s not on either. You can’t just throw up alternatives in someone’s personal advert
Ok and now it’s slipping I’m guessing?
I don’t know a lot about okuma reels but yes I have fixed this problem before with other reels
In most cases it’s usually after a service where these AR bearings slip and cause problems because people think as a bearing it needs lubricant and naturally...
The swivel doesn’t need to work on that rig. The hook link doesn’t need to spin or rotate at that point at all.
The swivels one and only purpose is to provide a quick changeable point to attach a hook link to. The rig works much better imo with everything snugged up properly
Strange… I’ve not had that happen myself, always the ring gets popped off the lug.
When you were pulling it all together did you ensure the anti tangle sleeve was pulled inside the bead. It’s quite easy for it to appear right and not be quite snugged up correctly
Some clear winners for me are:
Folding quivers
Mk11 graphite brolley
Bolt n run kits
Mk1 roving chair
Day pack
Butt screw
I’m not really loving the direction their heading in at the moment by putting pictures of fish on flasks, lunch boxes etc.
maybe they are running out of ideas...
Yeah I’d fit it with heat glue too.
You want to fit it with a substance that will melt with just a very quick flash of a lighter on the steel. If it requires more than this, you seriously run the risk of melting the resin in the carbon should it need to come off again.
Anyone wanting to send me any reels, Friday would be a good day to post and I’ll get them hopefully Monday to turn around quickly.
I have never increased my price it’s still exactly the same.
1 reel service @ £15-
2 or more reels service @ £12.50 each
Return post costs on top which vary...
I won’t argue with you Stephen on it as I’m out of touch on it all but I will say I’ve had a lot of involvement with the metal and it’s never been cheap from my experience to buy in any form
I’m pretty sure you’re missing a couple of decimal places there Stephen.
Tungsten is many times more expensive than lead. I’m out of touch with it all now but but I’d say lead is probably around £1.50 kg ish and tungsten I’d guess to be 20x that amount and that’s scrap value.
Tungsten would be...
