    Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF6 camera

This is a 'compact system' or mirrorless camera which basically means it has a DSLR-comparable sized sensor, can be used with interchangeable lenses but is much smaller. Google the full spec. but it's in it's original box with a 14-42mm lens, charger, strap and three different filters. It takes...

    Homepage stunner

When doubles are rare you've got to be happy when half of them are over 11lbs, Mike? I don't think even electric fishing would show what a stretch of the Ouse holds, David. From what I understand, it is largely ineffective in deep water. I tend to think that sustained angling will usually...

    Homepage stunner

Yep, it's a lovely fish and congratulations Mike. Six Ouse fish over 11lbs is impressive; if you don't mind me asking, what is the ratio of 11lbers to barbel over 10lbs - if that makes sense??

    Fox Ruck Box

Fox stopped making these years ago but they were so well made that apart from usual signs of use it's perfect. Large main compartment, lots of large pockets and an effective solid tray/table which lifts off. £30 but there will be a bit of postage cos of its size, unless you can collect it from...

    HNV baits for Barbel.

My understanding of the HNV theory is very vague, a bit like that of barbel fishing. Come on Fred, get those memoirs up on here!

    Specimen and Specialist Groups

TFW, a mine of information that I only stumbled into as it ground to a halt. Wit, good natured p1$$ taking, loads of ******** on about ooks and the odd bit about fishing - thoroughly recommended. But as they say, all good things etc etc

    Okuma Trent Centrepin

Like new, with neoprene pouch. This is the blue reel with the star drag that seems to be unavailable now, and as far as I can tell is left handed? £100 posted. Matt

    How to weigh fish properly.

Hi Robert, I'm afraid that while a fish is being weighed and photographed it is in effect suffocating rather than resting. Matt

    muckboots

They are warm, not Skeetex warm but very comfortable, good for walking and mine have a great tread for gripping a muddy bank. Think they might be Derwent? Matt

    ABU 54's

Sorry off topic again. Big, Simon. Little was already closed to fishing by '86 if I remember rightly. Did you fish it much? An old mate always said it was probably even better than Big Drax as a tench water - Barry Barmby was his name, a bit of a character too should you have met him?.

    ABU 54's

Ha ha, you might not be far off there Dave, still loves his poodle rock/hair metal, I understand?! It was purely tongue in cheek/outrageous name dropping, Simon:p I got the 54s off him as a ultra keen young'n fishing Drax, what I'd give for a tench water like that place was in the 80s, now...

    ABU 54's

Back to Cardinal 54s...Would the fact that I bought my three off a pre-superstar Julian Cundiff mean that (providing I could find them) they might fetch a couple more quid?? And I hope the Ouse fish-in's a success :) Matt

Environment Agency Provides Consent to Massacre Eels on the Trent

Glenn, the first part of your post I quote is not true. The second part possibly implies that it's the EA who are installing hydro systems on weirs, which isn't the case. They're private ventures and somebody must be making money out them, even if it's just through a subsidy payment! Ian...

Environment Agency Provides Consent to Massacre Eels on the Trent

Ian, I think if screens were that were fine enough to prevent mature eel passage were incorporated into the design, the screen would become blinded with debris in a very short time preventing any water getting through to provide the power. Matt edit - there may be ways of diverting fish around...

    Barbel boiled baits back when?

This is great stuff, amongst lots of boring threads on here while few barbel are being caught.

    E A Riverline

River levels are going to be available on the internet, supposed to be sometime in March I understand. Don't know any more at the moment. Matt

Carp in the Yorkshire Ouse system?

Chris, I've heard from several different sources of carp in the Ouse and it's tributaries, in both the tidal and non-tidal sections. I vaguely remember seeing Mick Wood with one (possibly 17lb?) in Angler's Mail from the Wharfe years, and possibly one bigger than that turning up in a match...
