    Pellet size.

one day on the Wye I was getting small taps and vibrations on the rod tip but no bites. I ended up going down to a single 4mm banded on a 16 and started catching immediately, literally one a cast for the next hour. I was using 3mm and 4mm pellets in the feeder and assume they got preoccupied on...

    Is it just me?

Kevin, its simple really, there are so few barbel left its not worth the effort unless you just want to sit and admire the surroundings, which I still do.

Centerpin reel angling channel on youtube?

I also watch match videos (Clive Branson) and I enjoy watching someone fish, not just catch, so for me the longer videos are better than edited highlights. I suppose you could do both ? Keep up the good work Ian.

Hi Keith, Trimpley is a good stretch but its a long walk down a steep hill, the one back is worse ! My personal favourite is Arley as you can fish both banks up and downstream but tbh wherever you go there will be barbel and chub, just keep moving if you are not catching would be my advice...

Hi Keith, i assume you'll be travelling up and staying overnight ? all of the middle Severn beats are worth go, a lot depends on the river levels when you come, time of year etc. Summer is def the busiest time and you'll see all the swims are well fished. If you let us know what you're planning...

Craig, id say meat cubes better for the chub and barbel unless you can find a spot with no chublets !

We've done an angling mishap thread before but here's a new one ... I was fishing a local lake on Tuesday for tench, slow going with only 1 decent rudd when one rod shot off and I was in to a decent fish. The fish was trying to get under bushes on my left so I stepped over the second rod and...

    Hereford river wye stretch

the HDAA car parking is off Eign road, turn right at the railway bridge and head down toward the sewage works, which you can google if you are not sure

    Hereford river wye stretch

fished there a few times but always on the float, had a few barbel and small chub but there are much better areas to fish. And of course it depends on the river conditions... if the river is up you wouldn't want to fish there. Parking at Eign I'd suggest walk upstream into the woods and try and...
