    Tench 2024

My tench campaign hasn't really got going with only 4 or 5 sessions so far, managed to get out today and had a lovely 8.06 first cast, turned out to be the only tench of the day but I did also get two very large eels, both easily over 4lbs, managed to unhook them both in the water thankfully !

to be honest I seldom use one unless its raining hard and banks are very slippery.

    Rod Position Changes

i think low rods and back leads are only the norm on low density "hard" venues. You won't see that on the Trent, Severn, Wye etc

Hinders of Swindon - great service

yes they absolutely still catch lots of barbel for sure and I always take them, whether they out fish ordinary halibut pellets I couldn't say though ?

    Solid pva bag fishing

Trevor, match fisherman often make the feeder move after its emptied to move the bait downstream, this can often produce a bite so I don't see it as a negative at all.

    Big Cat sightings

If true then Im sure that would have made the news ? I can accept that there might have been an escapee or an illegal release of one but otherwise I don't believe they exist, there would be much more evidence imo.

    July Wye trip

agree Kevin, if you are prepared to join HDAA they have plenty of water but access is varied, they have one stretch at Holme Lacey where you can drive down to the river but that is members only, no day tickets. Letton Court is also accessible by car, really lovely stretch of water but that's a...

Stan's allows you to park behind your swim, probably the easiest access I know. It can get busy though.

Ive still got one with the Octoplus legs, did lots of trips to Ireland in the 80s. Very uncomfortable to carry.

Korum waist trotting tray, Is this a good or dumb idea?

I use an ESP bait pouch and a small bucket for the bait, just thread the bait pouch strap through the bucket handle before fastening and tightening. the bucket of course is also waterproof is if you wade a bit further the bait stays dry too.

    Tench 2024

Alex, I also use the red foam to pop up the maggots but I have to say that the second rod fixed heli style on the bottom tends to out fish it. Im using a short hookling about 2-3" on the pop up, what length do you use ?
