    Crimping nylon booms

I've crimped 25lb Amneisa with the Korda 06 crimps. As long as you crimp them properly (I didn't first time) they are quite secure, and as you say, very neat. The 06 crimps are a very snug fit. Have you looked at the Gemini booms, Alan. Now they are very neat...

    New reel.

I bought a Daiwa Connoisseur 14' power float rod earlier this year. Teamed it up with a Daiwa 4012 TDR. Not had chance to use it yet, but they feel nice in my hands.

    Making your own bait.

I've followed this guy's guidance for making boilies.

It’s off the AA baits website. That’s where I’ve bought most of my ingredients from.

    Making your own bait.

Here's a 100g test mix I've put together. Not rolled any yet as I'm waiting for nearer the season. Pretty simple TBH, nothing too in depth to start with. As it stands at the moment I'm just trying to not get too involved in buying loads of ingredients, just a fishmeal base mix, then add one...

    Normark float rod buyers guide

I have a friend who worked in Exeter angling around the time Geoff Salisbury was the brains behind Normark rods. Geoff used to take him to matches all over the country. My friend has a Titan I believe, that Geoff gave him. A totally unbranded prototype that is unmistakably a Normark. I've seen...

Ordered a few bits off the AA baits website. Made quite a saving over JBs stuff, so we'll see how I get on. Spicy Crab and Garlic anyone ??

    Making your own bait.

I did type "boilie base mix" into google, and they were one of the ones I looked at. AA baits was another. Trent baits also. Unfortunately we have to buy such a large amount.

    Making your own bait.

You did, Richard, and I thanked you and others for the info. It was more a rhetorical question TBH. If I do go down the home made bait route, Id like it to be something I'd put together rather than one I'd used from somewhere else. I've watched lots of Jonh's YouTube videos and it's not...

    Making your own bait.

Pretty much my worry TBH. I use what I think is a good quality bait at the moment. After going to the trouble and cost of making my own bait, there is still the fish to consider. After all that, they still may not actually eat my bait, and if they did, was it "my" bait, or just the fact they...

    Making your own bait.

Thanks for all the tips and recipes folks, very kind to divulge them. But that's not quite what I had in mind. To me, that is just using someone else's recipe to roll boilies. I'd want to make my own mix up from scratch, including mixing different flavours together. Hence the 6 pick and mix...

    Making your own bait.

But which base mix, which flavour ?? It's very confusing. I've got two base mixes, two lots of pick and mix flavours, salmon oil, krill extract and measuring stuff in my JB's basket at the moment. Comes to around £100. I don't use a kilo of boilies a season.

    Making your own bait.

I just know that if I do have a go at making my own bait, I'll have to get all the kit and ingredients to do it, I always do that kind of thing. A kg of JBs base mix alone is the price of a kilo of boilies, then there is all the other stuff you need to flavour it. I think it would be a great...

    Making your own bait.

Is it worth it ?? My Carp fishing friend is going to start making some hook baits for himself and it's got me thinking of having a go myself, but not really sure it's worth it though. I don't use many boilies a season. I'm already up to £100 in my basket on John Bakers website. Trouble is, I...

Long float rods for big chub

There was an interesting thread over on the Maggotdrowing forum a while ago about line strength. How some of the top commercial anglers were using fairly light lines for pellet waggler fishing. I seem to remember that Steve Ringer was quoted as to be using 5lbs on his rods. Reason being that it...

Long float rods for big chub

I've used an 11' 6" team Daiwa commercial pellet waggler rod, the XP model, with a dumpy waggler for Barbel on the Trent. Landed fish close to double no problem. Quite a nice rod to use TBH. Think it's got Daiwa ST 8lbs through it.

    Daiwa basia barbel rods

I've got two 2.75s I may be persuaded to sell.
