    Weight

I think it's the "just in case" mentality. I'm always adding things to my bag, feeders and leads, mainly. But very rarely take them out. Every now and again I'll have a clear out, but there never seems to be that much stuff that goes back in the shed. I always take a brolly - can't remember the...

    Landing net

That'll teach you for catching all the Barbel for miles around,..... ;);) Gardner folding spoon is a good net, IMO.

Small/ medium river fishing - wait or rove

When I fished the Dove, it was obvious where the bigger fish came from, so not much point in moving to a swim that had never been fished before. Once I'm settled, I tend to stay put now.

,.......And Freespirit power float rods. ;)

Having said all that. I've been looking at centrepins on various sites all day. They are very tempting.

    Bite Alarms

I'd recommend the Gardner's as well. Maybe some second hand ones with a receiver. I bought mine second hand a few years ago for £180 for three blue ones with snag ears fitted and the receiver.

Custom rods are top of the list of fishing tackle I'd consider. Maybe a power float rod, followed by a centre pin. But I just don't need them though. I could move my Greys rods on and have some 1'75lbs made, but I really like what I've got for fishing wise. Same with my floodwater gear...

    Treating yourself.

I like the idea of a trip somewhere. Always fancied the Royalty for a session, or Redmire, just for the history. We had a local artist draw pictures of our dogs a while ago, who was very good. Sadly she was suffering with breast cancer and stopped doing drawings. Not sure my mug is something...

    Treating yourself.

I'm due to retire in the new year and was thinking I might treat myself to something fishing related when I do. Trouble is, I'm not sure if I need anything. A custom made pair of floodwater rods could be top of the list, but I'm very happy with the pair I have at the moment. I'm not a...

    Greys prodigy pb barbel rod

There are some on that site that are 3.4mm. Might be worth having a look, and maybe buying one of those and rubbing it down a little with some emery cloth.

    Greys prodigy pb barbel rod

Could you measure the tip and look on here, Matt ?? Lots of tips, fit different rods. Drennan and Daiwa interchange for example. Edit: Mostly. https://www.fishingspares.co.uk/1501-quiver-tips

    Folding pan net for Barbel

Another vote for the Gardner. I bought the 26" and it's a little on the small side TBH. But in my defence, the 30" is quite large IMO, and looked a bit cumbersome in the shop. Comes in a bag, folds up fairly small and compact (I strap it to the top of my rucksac) I bought it to use when...

    Squeeze ready paste/ground bait

You could try this, Alex. https://www.sonubaits.com/en/products/paste/sp-10426 It's aimed at match fishing, where they want it extremely soft. But if you experimented with less water I'm sure you'd get it how you wanted it.

    Waterproof jacket

Like lots of things, the strive for lightness affects everything. I've an old Sprayway GTX coat that has never let water in, but weighs a ton. I've also got both a Berghaus and Mountain Equipment GTX coat, that whilst very light, doesn't keep me dry. I think the newer coats are just designed...

    Fishing wheels?

My mate uses this when he's off Carp fishing, David. He sleeps in it so it'll take a bedchair, and he gets all his kit in it. I believe it's a long wheel based Transit Connect. Not sure about a 7ft rod though.

    Wellies

Just a heads up with regards the Grubs Eskline. I had to send a pair back after a very short time using them. They came apart where the upper joined the sole. Got my money back, so hats off to Grubs. Wearing my second pair tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

    Bob’s Island

Hi Alistair. A1 pits is just a little way downstream. I've fished it a few times, it's crowded, but there are 200 pegs on the stretch, so getting a swim is almost guaranteed. I've never fished Bobs, not sure I could put up with the locals, so to speak. Something else to consider is buying a...

    Wafters.

    I see. Thanks.

    Wafters.

I just assumed they wouldn't waft, the flow stopping them and pinning then to the riverbed.

    Wafters.

Anyone use Wafters in their river fishing ?? We've made some wafters for my Carp fishing mate, and I've made myself some cork dust ones in my flavour. Obviously not very good in fast water, but it's got me thinking that they may ?? be ok in slower paced swims.
