    New Daiwa Theory Speci

I bought a pair of the originals in 2.25lb from Phil Maggs a few years ago, they're all I use now no matter which water or state of levels. If the new models are as good, then they're going to be great!

    Bite Alarms

I think the key word was budget, the gardners, although bombproof aren't what I'd call a budget alarm. Most tackle shops have cheap alarms on the shelf...

How far North do barbel live

I was under the impression that eastward flowing rivers, that were historically connected to mainland europe were natural barbel territory. I don't know if the Tees, Wear or Tyne fall into that category, I reckon the Humber estuary definitely would and certainly the more southern waterways...

    Roach

Not as instant as bread or maggots. ;) Little tale that still amuses and pisses me off in equal measures. A good mate and myself were at a local stretch of the Tees a few years ago, sat pretty close to each other. I was fishing liquidised bread in an open end feeder with a small pinch of...

Avon rod - lightweight eye choice

I also have a pair of DL standard builds and whatever rings they are as standard, the action is perfect. Without trying to come across as a contrary Mary, I can't see any rings drastically compromising the action of a decent blank??

    Advice on rod selling.

I've been quite lucky so far. Nearly all my rod purchases over the last 20 years have been online, mostly because I buy custom builds or second hand. The only rod I've bought was a damaged beachcaster when I went to pick it from go outdoors, it was a shop purchase thet they had to order in. I...

    Night fishing tidal trent.

A bit late but.... There are two private stretches immediately upstream of the conveyor. One has two pegs called rob and Julies paddock, they've recently sold up and it's now run by new owners, I don't have the details but google may help. The other is Salmon farm ran by a couple called Zeta...

    Landing net head

I've just checked out the DV landing nets. Does anyone use the 24" or 28" version that are shallow. I've just returned from the Trent where the bankside rocks could be a problem with deeper nets. I did manage a solitary 5lber over two days. Also; are the DV extending handles any good?
