The guides are definitely lighter than normal ones, I weighed the first two sections of the 13ft rod I have, same weight as the acolyte specimen, but the wall of the blank is much thicker, I assume the ags guides saved a lot weight.
That’s my problem with daiwa ags guides, they are light and smooth, but damn frail, and it’s the first time in my life I saw a warning/user guide for the rod guides.
Ultegra fc is a nice reel, but I don’t think it is suitable for ledgering. I was also considered it when it first launched, but decided not to.
Sahara fj is a nice reel for close range chub fishing, it has almost same features as aero xr except ci4 body, so slight heavier and balanced well...
Tamer is great rod for its price, I have the 2lb version and it’s great, the only thing I don’t like about this rod is it’s thin handle. I do have the more expensive s range barbel seeker, it is my favourite 11ft barbel rod, but I don’t think it is twice the price better than the tamer.
I am not very impressed with Paul’s reel, much prefer Richard Carter’s work. And of course, for even modern one, Chris Lythe. Garry’s earlier work are great, but I have some bad experience with his recent reel, so maybe not buying from him again.
Yeah, super annoying. I really like those daiwa rods since they have really nice blanks, but the building quality or QA really put me off. I won’t buy new one again, it’s just like drawing lottery.
I agree, but the tight joint has nothing to do with v joints, it’s just another fault. I know this because I also own Japan made daiwa rods that’s also use v joint technology, the joints are perfect.
The quality of those made in the UK Daiwa rods is terrible. As you said, they have bent blanks, unaligned eyes, upside-down reel seats, and all sorts of stupid problems. I am curious to know how these rods passed the QA.
I would say give the acolyte specimen a try. Considering everything, this...
I started using dynamite meat in different flavours two years ago, good quality bait, firm and smiley. My favourite are garlic and red rodbin, the new source flavour is also great.
