Use to fish on that island in the 80s before the barbel boom and the signs where put up to stop boats fishing in the weir.
All chub and bream then and hardly anybody fished peg 1
Bob's island is on the dyke and the fishing isn't like the river. 1.75lbs TC rods will be more that enough with 3 or 4 oz weights to fish the far side margin.
Not fished it for a few years but sounds like it's improved immensely. It used to be a reyt tip.
I'm 20st and I've had a middy 30plus chair for at least 10 years. It's spot on ,long adjustable legs and can be used with just the front feet for very steep banks. Not the lightest but not to heavy. Not sure whether they still sell it though
I was going to try scopex on meat on the tidal Trent as I've heard it supposedly keeps the crabs away. Not sure if it works or not, anybody on here tried it
Cheers for everyone's replies. I've been away for a couple of weeks
Ady my spreader only as holes of about 8mm, cheers though.
Jason, ive seen the one on eBay but it's a bit minty for just a spreader block.
Ray, have you got a link to the person who makes them on eBay?
