With regard to the Kennet, during winter months 2 and 3 years ago, I'd noticed in winter months even after a bit of rain when one would expect a bit of colour in the water, a rather odd clarity to it and a greenish almost fluorescent glow. Probably nothing at all but I wondered if anyone had...
Re specific locations, in this case LB the Kennet, am not sure this is the right place to give specific locations. Brilliant discussion though this is in all other things.
Regards to all, Nick
What a loss, what a wonderful man. Always informative posts and advice given with grace and such expertise. Heartfelt condolences to his family and all his many, many friends. what a shock.
Another vote for brilliant customer service at Harefield tackle and Woody's of Wembley - Woody's have restored and original cane rods and the expertise to go way back with them. And then there's Tadley Angling - always a cuppa with a visit.
I'd keep it the way it is and take it out for a trip on a small stream and float catch dace and small chub safe in the knowledge that it really didn't matter it had the twist. In the end the unique with its story attached is more important than things being perfect. Irreplaceable.
Thank you Andy and your team. I look on it everyday. That's value and quality. Not that I'm religious but your site is a kind of bible.
Very best wishes to all that contribute to make it so.
Nick
Am A bit like you Howard and don't try to take too much stuff, I have the Chub low and light chair and I prefer to take in that as it's easier to carry than using the Shakespeare fishing stool /rucksack (without the back) which I have and bought for the purposes you describe and only used once...
Then on the other hand (thinking that the smaller details are after all all that really matter in life) the whole universe's axis might be poised on the the answer to the question. Does plumbers tape fray line? If so which lines? by how much? by which methods? and in what circumstances?.
Neil. How does the line 'slap' against the tape. I don't get it? You (one) casts out, you tighten a little and then sit and wait perhaps for 3/4hr +. If the tape is wrapped tightly round the tip when does all the slapping take place?
Not trying to be clever. just curious, come to think of it...
We'll the first thing that has to be said is that it's not ridicule and abuse, it's just a conversation. Second thing is it's just fishing. It's a kind of magic (that's a song by … aw can't remember). Third thing (or is it the fourth thing? (can't remember ) is that the with thing I want to...
Thank you to all those involved in getting this decision. Particularly ARK for bringing this issue to the front and fighting for something to be done. Thanks Neil.

To be blunt Russell, Graham has a point, I don't think anyone is trying to be so definitive here as you imagine - we are simply discussing types of hooks on a fishing thread hopefully with the wellbeing of fish at heart.
