    Flavoured meat

Have in the past enjoyed a lot of success using Maple syrup, Not the propriety fishing brands sold in the angling shops, the real stuff that you would put on your pancakes. For boiled baits I would add it to the eggs, I don't recall exact amounts that I would use but I was very generous with it...

    Flavoured meat

Flavors and enhancements are merely attractants, that we use to highlight the presence of the bait itself. Fish oils probably being the best example of. Flooded and colored rivers, for myself this is, a big ole smelly lump of meat is a great bait and as good as any. On clear water, say fishing...

    Flavoured meat

Tumeric and Paprika, half of a teaspoon of each to a tin. Freeze for a few hours/overnight, as the defrosting process will help draw the flavor into the meat.

    Floats

Was catching Grayling, Roach and Dace and a couple of decent Chub today, no Barbus unfortunately, whilst using the 6.5g. Love the control that I am able to exert to the float and the added bonus that the heavier float allows for in controlling the line and casting from a pin. Defo one of my...

    Hook choice???

Terry Eustace GLT Penetrator Three. I believe they are discontinued/no longer available now. Approx 12 years ago now, I put a post on here asking if anybody was able to source them as they were becoming rarer than rocking horse poop Had a response that a store in Birmingham had a stock so I...

    trotting rod

I have that rod and it is indeed a great blank and a superb build, I would never part with it. Whilst using a Pin, the top of the handle and the reel mount, on the standard build this is, does not work for me as I have small hands. Would advise a bespoke build if you have a similar issue.

pigeon conditioner can it be frozen ?

I used to superglue a ball of the (dry) particles together to form/make a hookbait. Best one was standard bird seed mix (eg Trill) whilst hemp was v disappointing.

    How far ?

My true restraint is cost rather than distance or time. By car I am approx 60 and then 45 miles from the two general areas that I plan on frequenting. Hoping to get out and about maybe a couple of times a week.

    Making a return to Barbel

With myself also being a decade+ long stranger to the bank, I too had a fair few concerns and resorted to youtube to watch a few of the more up to date angling blogs so as to re familiarize myself a little more with the nitty gritty side of things before the 16th. One of the the first things to...

    The Method

A very simplified way of fishing the 'Method' is to mold paste to and around your lead and the press pellets/offerings into the surface of the paste. Can be very effective when sitting it out for that one fish and bait used (cost) over a few sessions is significantly reduced.

What are your targets for the new season?

Thanks Guy's, Not a driven goal as said, more a wish. Really appreciate the venue pointers, thank you.

What are your targets for the new season?

My grand plan is for a return to the bank on the 16th, after nearly a decade since my last outing. Determined to not get into the rut of sitting it out for the better fish again, so will be looking at adopting a more mobile approach with maybe smaller more intimate rivers in mind, in particular...

End of an era, for me

Nearly 50 years actively chasing fish is a great run to have enjoyed and still the hobby to come, you'll soon be long chucking with the pin again on the Trent. Wish you well.
