It's illegal to disturb an otters holt but define 'disturb'. I've fished just upstream from holts before. Say 30yds. Caught plenty. They do not effect the fishing. Recently had four fish to 12.7 from a peg with an otter in at that time.
Hi nick,
It's a common problem with that reel. I heard last year that a new version was coming out but haven't seen any updates since....I sold mine after playing the first barbel. If you learn to cast off the side of a Centrepin then it's exactly the same. Use braid though as the line twist...
The BS along with the EA have just stocked a back stream at kings weir with 500 barbel and 1000 chub and are using the area as a nursery. Should help the fishing no end, I assume that's why BS and KW have come up with a deal for fishing. Sounds fair enough I say.
Slight confusion in the wording. BS members have permission to fish the downstream section (the members section) at kings weir. You'll be required to produce your members card. The BS have not taken over the rights.
not forgetting hemp almost doubles in size when cooked, so lets call it a ton for comedy value :D Just tugging on your manhood. The results say it all. Well done. Completely understand the no press, sounds like the best fishery in all the land.
It can't be that quiet with half a ton of hemp going in, Nick! Hahaha. Is that just in the close season too? Wow. If I remember rightly, my little bait factory down the road does 25kgs for 20 quid.....£400 on hemp? Hahahahahaha....Dedicated mate, I'll give you that.
It's 2014 and in the society really is an exciting place to be. It's on the up and going from strength to strength. The R&C work is quite spectacular to say the least and has great support from within...and out. That was the main reason I joined but then found if you make a point of getting...
Haha! I was pretty sure Joe, obviously wrong. Haha. 60 quid out. I do remember it being a bargain though. Good to know its still getting used. It caught me some good fish that reel!
I picked it up off eBay for about 50 odd quid! and I almost didn't get rid with it being what it was, someone informed me it might've gone for 300ish so that swung it. Bit over valued but I still managed £190 which I was more than happy with......as it was pants:D
For sure, Tim. It certainly wasn't the same as the more recent models. Hell of a difference. Made a few quid on it though. I purchased it whilst I was waiting for my Barbus......so will this drag system be the same then? The cork pad that applies pressure to the drum?
I had the ratchet and drag model of the swallow, sold it as it was pants! The wobble you get off the drag models is horrendous. Mine must've been one of the first as the rim was finger slicing thin! Garry Mills Barbus and Barbel Catcher are both super and probably the best tensioner/drag you can...
Good man! I'll be expecting baby around that point so I'll tread carefully when informing the woman, but all should be fine. I missed last years social, good job though, everyone looked and smelt like tramps the following morning. Too much fun was had by the looks of it. :D
You can't have a simple yes or no with this question as there are people who want it to remain but with the dates revised/or you could say 'a new one in place'. That skews the views of 'yes' straight away because they aren't happy with the way it is, thus a simple 'yes' not being the correct...
