Hiya gents,
I think you may have the wrong end of the stick there Lee. Happens quite a lot on Facebook, probably why so many knickers get twisted during debate. Better than watching TV these days.
Founding members have been invited to the show as a celebration...something to do with 20...
I use quivers for maggot fishing in winter but any other time it's rod pointed at bait in touch mode with finger on the trigger. Perfic......for finicky fishing that is. I do like sitting on my derrière though and waiting for the reel to start screaming.
Hi Jack,
The weed died off some years ago and the majority of the barbel went with it unfortunately, there are areas where they turn up from time to time but you really have to put the hours in...and lots of them!...if you're new to barbel fishing and have never caught before I'd strongly...
12.5 stone! You racing snake Howard! The Shakespeare mentioned above is worth a look mate, I've still got the backless version in the shed which I tend to use from time to time despite the mice trying their absolute best to destroy it. Ive used bait bucket bags/pads etc but you just end up with...
Hiya Peter,
Garry at Custom Reels can quick drag them for £5 each. I was going to have my reels converted but was told it completely ruins the performance if you play your fish on the clutch. Never bothered in the end, plus I rarely use fixed spools. Instead he'll do an upgrade on the washers...
Let me just add that's all in jest, Lee. Hence the overdose of smiley faces. I applaud the work you've mentioned. Written text can be a funny thing and these threads can get a bit iffy.
Tony, not sure that warrants a response. That whole issue, from what I now hear, has many false sides and...
Hiya Lee,
Thanks for that. Interesting brief read. I'll keep it short for now as the f1 is on. 100 years summed up in a few paragraphs. With multiple clubs. On the Trent. .....it's good....but it's not great. :D still failing to see the magic regarding our beloved barbel.
Based on that, the...
I've been a member of the BS for three years now. Not long at all for sure. Especially when they've been going almost twenty!.. That's a long time apparently doing nothing. Would it have not collapsed on its backside by now?...I know the ins and outs and why certain people are waiting to pounce...
Hiya Lee,
slight mistake comparing a Facebook chat forum (prince of the river) to the barbel society. A completely different cup of tea. Off the back of that, the BS FB page is merely a promotional tool. Not a social media forum. The above mentioned statement by Steve Pope was an invitation for...
Hiya Mark, that's quite an old study used as an example just to show the smallest of changes like even adding deflectors into the river will boost populations and recruitment for various reasons (I can't be arsed to list right now as I'm enjoying my rum). That's essentially all that was done in...
Mark, Malmesbury avon project. B.avon. Somerfords Fishing Association were concerned with over-abstraction and flows. Simply removing the riffle and pool sequence can kill off a fishery in no time. Anyway, long story short, on average over three years, improved stretches supported 3.8 times more...
