    Collingham aa

That’s got nothing to do with Collingham or Ashfield, who have the opposite bank. Boat fishing is allowed on the tidal. The only people who could enforce the signs is the CRT.

    Wind

Yesterday was supposedly the lull between the two storms and for most of the day it was a lovely sunny day. Then this came out of nowhere - It only lasted 3-4 minutes but it wrecked one guys brolly, terrifying his 7 yo son and blew over 2 sets of rods.

    Holdall

The shoulder strap is fine, it’s the carrying handle that doesn’t work for me.

    Holdall

I’ve had one for several months now and am very happy with it. Two small moans though. I also have the Korum day shelter, which I also love, and it fits perfectly in the main body. However, considering the quiver is aimed at barbel style anglers I can’t fit my tripod in it, which probably...

    Frustrated on the the trent

Crab flavoured pellets are very effective at Fisky.

Where to fish on the Trent

If you’re looking to fish overnight then 3 places spring to mind, Bob’s Island, Collingham and A1 pits. All 3 can fish well but all 3 have mixed reputations.

    Feeders

If you’re on Facebook then search for Fiskys Fantastic Feeders. Paul makes makes an excellent range of feeders.

    Canon powershot g6

I’ve got 2 of them and am still very happy with the results.

    Trent Barbel Stocking

I believe that the EA stock the Trent every year to cover the numbers that weren’t produced naturally as the brood stock are removed from the Trent for breeding at Calverton.

    Waterlogged

I found this picture on a Trent clubs Facebook page yesterday, it ‘shows’ Collingham weir.

    Fishing officially permitted

It should be limited to just members of the Angling Trust 😄

    Spineless EA again

Just a thought but is it the EA that is to blame? Is it the EA that actually prosecutes or is it the CPS? We often hear similar complaints from the police.

Looking for a braid mainline piking

Why do you want so much on your reels, unless you are using a bait boat? It will also cost a lot to put that much braid on each reel. I put no more than about 75 yds on a reel and use a heavy mono to back it up. Over the years I think you’ll find that PowerPro has been just about the most...

Can we fish during this next lockfown?

There are no rules as such on time/distance you can travel. It’s just guidance that you shouldn’t travel “long” distances.

    Syndicates

There is a night syndicate on the Trent at Fiskerton, however there is also a waiting list which we estimate will cover the next two years. There is also one on the tidal Trent at Normanton. Details can be found here - http://www.barbelfishers.com/services/fisheries/permits/

    New PB!

I once caught one on a lobworm. The hook was nowhere near it, it just held on to the worm.

    Float rod and reel recommendations

Jameel, I’ve got the 15ft Acolyte SU and have landed double figure barbel on it. It’s very light and I pair it with an old narrow drum Soeedia.

    river trent bream

Burton Joyce road section is day ticket. £6 on the bank or £4 in advance from the Ashfield AS website. The recent AT river-fest match was won with 60 lb of bream.

    Self taking photos

I use an old Canon G5. It has a flip screen which means you can frame yourself plus an infrared remote to take the photo. It’s not the smallest of digital cameras but it’s solid and reliable.

    Fiskerton this weekend

Richard, generally at this time of year head upstream to the higher peg numbers. At the beginning of this week the barbel may have been spawning according to a couple of Scunthorpe members I spoke to on the opposite bank.
